Halloween Time isn’t just a Disneyland park thing this year.

All three Disneyland Resort hotels have gone all-in on fall decor, character dining, and seasonal activities, and one of them even got a full Monsters, Inc. makeover.

If you’re staying on property this season, it’s worth checking out the hotels themselves before you even head to the parks.

Pixar Place Hotel got the most dramatic transformation, with all-new seasonal artwork throughout the building featuring Mike, Sulley, Boo, and their Monsters, Inc. pals, designed by Disney artist Brett Snodgrass. Over at Disneyland Hotel, Haunted Mansion-inspired displays bring the four doomed souls from the stretching room to life, and there’s a photo spot right in front of the attraction’s own menacing wrought iron gates.

The real showstopper, though, is at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa. The pastry team spent more than 800 hours building a Nightmare Before Christmas confectionery display on Spiral Hill, featuring Jack Skellington, Sally, Zero, Oogie Boogie, and the Mayor, made from 140 pounds of fondant, 175 pounds of chocolate, 150 pounds of powdered sugar, 105 pounds of rice cereal, and 38 pounds of marshmallows. That’s genuinely one of the more ambitious sugar sculptures Disney has put together in recent memory. Over at Disneyland Hotel near Goofy’s Kitchen, there’s a smaller but still charming 5-foot confectionery Mickey Mouse pumpkin with 13 hidden Mickeys tucked into the design if you want a scavenger hunt with your dessert browsing.

Character dining leans into the season too. Storytellers Cafe at the Grand Californian is serving Mickey’s Autumn Adventures for breakfast and brunch, with Clarabelle’s Enchanted Halloween Dinner taking over in the evening. Goofy’s Kitchen at Disneyland Hotel has its own Halloween-themed breakfast, brunch, and dinner buffet, complete with characters dressed in their own festive fall outfits. Advance reservations are strongly recommended for both, so book ahead through Disneyland.com if either one is on your list. Beyond the character meals, seasonal menu items are also popping up at The Sketch Pad Café at Pixar Place Hotel, GCH Craftsman Grill, and the Great Hall Cart at the Grand Californian.

If you want to bring the season home with you, Tenaya Stone Spa at the Grand Californian is offering Disney-inspired hair, makeup, and nail transformations, along with a Wicked to the Core foot treatment that pairs a warm caramel-scented soak with a candy apple sugar scrub. Treatments and salon services come at an additional cost beyond your room.

Staying at any of the three hotels still comes with the usual overnight perks: close proximity to the parks and Downtown Disney, one complimentary Lightning Lane entry per registered guest during the stay, preferred dining reservation access, room-charge privileges through the Disneyland app, and character encounters on select days. On top of that, there’s a complimentary Halloween Time Treat Trail exclusively for hotel guests, where the front desk hands out a wristband, goodie guide, and treat bag for a bit of trick-or-treating without ever leaving the resort. A professional pumpkin carver gives demonstrations on select dates from October 13 through 31 at Disneyland Hotel, and guests can decorate faux pumpkins on select weekdays at both Disneyland Hotel and Pixar Place Hotel. Joe Gardner from Pixar’s Soul also continues his year-round live jazz piano sets in his lobby alcove at Pixar Place Hotel, which is a lovely, low-key way to unwind after a full park day regardless of the season.

If you’re building a trip around this, it’s worth knowing there’s also a fall room discount running right now, saving up to 20% on stays of three nights or longer at all three hotels for visits October 11 through December 18. We covered the full breakdown of that offer, including the Disney Visa Cardmember version with its weekday quirk, in an earlier post if you want the details on which one actually saves you the most.

If juggling character dining reservations, the hotel discount, and a full park itinerary sounds like more planning than you want to take on yourself, our trusted travel partners at Adventure Awaits Travel Company can help pull it all together for free.
