Galacticoaster, the brand-new indoor coaster at LEGOLAND Florida, just took home the No. 1 spot for Best Theme Concept at Amusement Today’s 2026 Golden Ticket Awards, and it wasn’t the only trophy the resort walked away with.
If you’ve been on the fence about whether LEGOLAND Florida is worth a spot on your theme park bucket list, an award like this is a pretty strong vote in its favor.
Galacticoaster, the centerpiece of LEGOLAND Florida’s new LEGO Galaxy land, was named No. 1 Best Theme Concept at the 2026 Golden Ticket Awards, one of the amusement industry’s most respected annual honors. The coaster also picked up No. 4 Best New Attraction Installation of 2026 and No. 5 Best New Coaster of 2026, with LEGOLAND California Resort sharing in those same recognitions since it debuted its own version of the ride too. On top of the individual accolades, LEGOLAND Florida Resort as a whole was named No. 3 Best Family Park of 2026. Tom Storer, North America Project Director of Merlin Magic Making, called the recognition a testament to the creativity and hard work of the entire team behind it.
Galacticoaster opened February 27, 2026 as LEGOLAND Florida’s first-ever indoor roller coaster and the park’s most technologically advanced attraction to date. It’s also part of Merlin Entertainments’ largest single in-park investment in the history of its U.S. attractions, which gives some real context for why this award matters beyond just bragging rights. Before boarding, guests step into a Customization Bay to design their own digital LEGO spacecraft from more than 625 possible combinations of noses, tails, wings, colors, and special features. That custom design saves to an RFID-enabled wristband and then actually appears on digital screens throughout the ride itself, so every guest’s experience genuinely looks a little different depending on what they built beforehand. It’s also built with accessibility in mind: LEGOLAND is a Certified Autism Center, and Galacticoaster was specifically designed with sensory sensitivities in mind alongside its 36-inch height requirement for riders.
The Golden Ticket Awards themselves carry real weight in the industry, voted on annually by both amusement professionals and enthusiasts across the globe, and Galacticoaster wasn’t the only Florida attraction to walk away with hardware this year. Universal’s Epic Universe took home honors for Monsters Unchained: The Frankenstein Experiment inside Dark Universe, continuing a streak as one of the best-reviewed dark rides anywhere, and Orlando’s Level99 was named Standout Family Entertainment Center, a sign that the region’s attraction scene is expanding well beyond traditional theme parks.
What makes this Golden Ticket win genuinely interesting looking forward is the timing. With Universal’s Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift, SEAQuest, and Tropical Americas at Animal Kingdom all still on the horizon for 2027, this year’s awards read almost like a preview of just how competitive next year’s list could get across Central Florida. For now, though, Galacticoaster has earned its spot at the top, and it’s a strong signal that LEGOLAND Florida deserves more attention as a legitimate family destination, not just a stop for the youngest kids in your group.
