Calling all coaster enthusiasts — your 2026 bucket list just got a whole lot longer!

SeaWorld

If you’re planning your next theme park vacation, you may want to start mapping out a road trip now. Across the country, parks are debuting some of their biggest, fastest, and most technologically impressive roller coasters ever built. From record-breaking thrill rides that tower over the skyline to family-friendly adventures packed with interactive storytelling, 2026 is shaping up to be one of the biggest years for roller coaster fans in recent memory.

Whether you’re a die-hard coaster chaser or simply looking for your next unforgettable theme park experience, these five new attractions deserve a spot on your must-ride list.

PEOPLE recently highlighted five of America’s best new roller coasters for 2026, and it’s easy to see why they’re generating so much excitement.

1. Tormenta Rampaging Run — Six Flags Over Texas

If breaking world records is your thing, Tormenta Rampaging Run is the coaster to beat.

Six Flags

Located at Six Flags Over Texas, this massive attraction is being called the world’s first giga dive coaster, combining the towering height of a giga coaster with the signature vertical pause and plunge of a dive coaster.

The numbers alone are jaw-dropping:

  • 309 feet tall
  • 285-foot beyond-vertical drop
  • Top speed of 87 mph
  • Six world records, including the tallest, fastest, and longest dive coaster in the world

The ride is themed around Spain’s famous Running of the Bulls and anchors the park’s new Rancho de la Tormenta area, complete with immersive architecture, music, and themed dining.

2. Galacticoaster — LEGOLAND Florida Resort

Not every great coaster has to be the tallest or fastest.

LEGOLAND Florida’s new Galacticoaster is designed with families in mind, blending interactive LEGO creativity with a space-themed adventure unlike anything else at the resort.

LEGOLAND

Before boarding, guests can customize their own LEGO spacecraft from more than 625 different design combinations, making each mission feel unique before blasting off into the stars.

It’s another example of LEGOLAND continuing to expand attractions that parents and kids can experience together while still delivering plenty of excitement.

3. Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift — Universal Studios Hollywood

Perhaps the most anticipated coaster on this list is Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift, Universal Studios Hollywood’s first-ever high-speed outdoor roller coaster.

Inspired by the blockbuster film franchise, the attraction will send riders racing through the hillsides of Universal Studios Hollywood at speeds reaching 72 mph while featuring innovative rotating ride vehicles designed to simulate high-speed drifting.

Deadline

The coaster stretches more than 4,100 feet across the park and promises cinematic thrills worthy of Dominic Toretto and the rest of the Fast family.

For Universal fans, this marks one of the biggest additions to the park in years and introduces an entirely new level of thrill rides to Hollywood.

4. Barracuda Strike — SeaWorld San Antonio

SeaWorld San Antonio is also making waves in 2026 with Barracuda Strike, the first inverted family coaster in Texas.

SeaWorld

The attraction begins with a 90-foot lift hill before reaching speeds of up to 44 mph, delivering just enough thrills for families while still providing an exciting coaster experience.

Designed to mimic the swift movement of a barracuda slicing through the water, the ride continues SeaWorld’s trend of blending animal-inspired storytelling with family attractions.

5. Quantum Accelerator — Six Flags New England

Rounding out the list is Quantum Accelerator, New England’s first dual-launch roller coaster.

Six Flags

Rather than relying on a traditional lift hill, riders are launched not once—but twice—through a steampunk-inspired time travel adventure featuring motorcycle-style seating and multiple bursts of acceleration.

It’s another major investment for Six Flags and gives coaster fans in the Northeast something entirely new to experience this summer.

A Huge Year for Theme Park Fans

From record-breaking engineering and cutting-edge ride technology to immersive storytelling and family-friendly adventures, this year’s coaster lineup proves that America’s theme parks continue to push the limits of what’s possible.

Whether you’re planning a visit to Universal Studios Hollywood, LEGOLAND Florida Resort, SeaWorld San Antonio, Six Flags Over Texas, or Six Flags New England, these attractions are already becoming some of the biggest reasons to travel in 2026.
