Another piece of Universal Studios Florida’s opening-day lineup is taking its final bow.

Animal Actors on Location! is permanently closing after 36 years, and honestly, this is the kind of closure that sneaks up on you even if it hasn’t been on your must-do list in a while.
The final performance is set for Monday, November 2nd, 2026, with the show officially closing for good the following day. For anyone unfamiliar, Animal Actors on Location! is the genuinely charming family show where live dogs, cats, birds, and other trained animals perform movie stunts and tricks, all while giving guests a peek behind the curtain at how animals actually get trained for film and television work.
This one goes all the way back to Universal Studios Florida’s opening year, debuting as Animal Actors Stage on June 7, 1990. It became Animal Planet Live in 2001, then took on its current name, Animal Actors on Location!, in 2006. This is currently one of only three opening-day attractions still running at Universal Studios Florida, alongside E.T. Adventure and the Horror Make-Up Show (which is itself currently closed for a major reimagining set to reopen later this year). Once Animal Actors takes its final bow, that short list of original attractions gets even shorter.

There’s a nice personal touch tied to the announcement, too. Adam Kingsley, Vice President of Park Operations for Universal Orlando’s North Campus, actually began his own Universal career as an attendant at Animal Actors 30 years ago. That’s the kind of full-circle detail that makes a closure like this land a little differently than your average attraction retirement.
As for what’s replacing it: Universal has confirmed a future experience is coming to the space, but hasn’t shared any details on what that will actually be. Given how much this corner of the park has already changed (the surrounding area was once part of Woody Woodpecker’s KidZone before much of it was transformed into DreamWorks Land back in 2024) there’s a reasonable chance whatever comes next continues that same evolution, though Universal hasn’t confirmed any connection to DreamWorks or anything else specifically.

If Animal Actors on Location! has been part of your Universal Orlando routine for years, or if you’ve simply never gotten around to catching it, you’ve got until November 2nd to see one final performance before it’s gone for good. Given how much change has already hit Universal Studios Florida this year, this is shaping up to be one more entry on a genuinely long list of 2026 closures and transformations across the resort.
Have you seen Animal Actors on Location! before? Let me know if you’re planning one last visit before it closes in November!
