If you’re heading to Disney World this week, you’re going to want to plan for some SERIOUS Florida heat.

Central Florida is dealing with another stretch of dangerously hot weather, and a Heat Advisory is in effect for the Orlando area on Tuesday, August 18th, impacting guests visiting Walt Disney World.

According to the National Weather Service, Orlando could reach an actual high temperature of around 97°F today, but the humidity will make conditions feel significantly hotter.

Heat index values could climb as high as 109°F.

Disney World Guests Should Prepare for the Heat

The National Weather Service’s Heat Advisory is currently scheduled to remain in effect from 10 AM through 8 PM on August 18th.

And while the current advisory is specifically for Tuesday, the heat isn’t disappearing immediately.

Wednesday’s forecast calls for another high around 96°F with heat index values potentially reaching 107°F, while Thursday could also reach approximately 96°F. Temperatures are currently forecast to remain in the mid-90s heading into the weekend.

Guests should also keep an eye on the sky. Afternoon showers and thunderstorms remain possible throughout the week, including a 70% chance of precipitation on Wednesday and 60% on Thursday.

In other words, we’re getting the full August-at-Disney-World experience: extreme heat and afternoon thunderstorms.

Plan Accordingly at the Parks

If you’re visiting Walt Disney World during this stretch, you’ll want to factor the weather into your park plans. Staying hydrated, taking regular breaks indoors or in air-conditioned attractions, wearing lightweight clothing, and limiting extended periods in direct afternoon sun can make a major difference.

You’ll also want to continue checking the forecast throughout your trip, since Central Florida weather conditions, and particularly afternoon thunderstorm chances, can change quickly.
