Lilo & Stitch 2 got its moment at D23, and the biggest takeaway is one a lot of fans have been hoping for: Angel is officially joining the sequel.
Maia Kealoha, reprising her role as Lilo, took the stage to introduce the follow-up to last year’s billion-dollar live-action hit. The segment played out as a fun little bit — Stitch was supposed to join her on stage, but got lost somewhere backstage, so instead he popped up on the big screen, clearly annoyed about the light-up bracelets that had been handed out to the crowd (relatable, honestly, those things are a lot).
Mid-bit, Angel suddenly appeared alongside him — the pink counterpart experiment fans have been waiting to see make her live-action debut.
For anyone who needs the refresher: Angel, also known as Experiment 624, was teased at the very end of the original 2002 Lilo & Stitch and later became a full character in Leroy & Stitch, plus multiple episodes of the animated series. She’s essentially been Stitch’s would-be love interest for over two decades at this point, so confirming her for the sequel is a genuinely big deal for longtime fans of the franchise.
As for logistics, Lilo & Stitch 2 is set to hit theaters May 28, 2028. Beyond Kealoha’s return and Angel’s confirmation, Disney didn’t share plot details, additional casting, or a title for the sequel during this segment, so there’s clearly more to come as production moves along.
