“The Deville Family Funeral Home has always had its secrets…” And now, those secrets are about to become your worst nightmare.
Universal Studios Hollywood has officially announced another original haunted house coming to Halloween Horror Nights 2026, and this one is already sounding like a twisted love letter to classic horror.
The newest original maze, Dead, Deader, Deadest, invites guests inside the mysterious Deville Family Funeral Home, where death isn’t exactly the end.
Universal offered fans a chilling first look at the house’s story by revealing the opening narration:
“The Deville Family Funeral Home has always had its secrets…”
While that’s only the beginning of the introduction guests will hear before entering the maze, it’s enough to set the tone for what appears to be a dark supernatural tale centered around the eerie funeral home and the sinister family that runs it.
For years, Halloween Horror Nights fans have asked whether the event’s original haunted houses receive detailed backstories similar to the attraction “house treatments” used during development. While Universal rarely releases full treatments publicly, opening narration like this offers guests an early glimpse into the world and mythology behind the experience before they step inside.
Based on the newly released artwork, guests can expect a gloomy cemetery, ominous mausoleums, and the haunting Deville Family Funeral Home looming in the distance — all watched over by a decaying hand clawing its way from the grave.
Dead, Deader, Deadest joins this year’s growing lineup of original haunted houses at Universal Studios Hollywood’s Halloween Horror Nights, which runs on select nights from September 3 through November 1, 2026.
With every announcement, this year’s event continues to build anticipation, and if the introduction is any indication, this could become one of the standout original concepts of the season.
