If you’re already planning your Walt Disney World holiday vacation, Disney’s Animal Kingdom just gave guests another reason to make sure the park is on their itinerary.

As Disney continues unveiling details about the 2026 holiday season at Walt Disney World, several beloved seasonal offerings have officially been confirmed to return to Disney’s Animal Kingdom. From the return of the fan-favorite Merry Menagerie to the breathtaking Tree of Life Awakenings Holiday Edition, the park will once again transform into a celebration of winter, nature, and holiday magic.

One of the most popular holiday experiences at Animal Kingdom is undoubtedly the Merry Menagerie. Located on Discovery Island, this unique entertainment offering features artisan-crafted puppets inspired by winter animals including penguins, foxes, polar bears, reindeer, and other arctic creatures. The performers bring these beautiful animals to life as they wander through Discovery Island, creating one of the most charming and photogenic experiences anywhere at Walt Disney World during the holidays.

The magic continues after dark with the return of Tree of Life Awakenings Holiday Edition. As night falls, the iconic Tree of Life becomes the canvas for dazzling projection effects, vibrant colors, animated imagery, and heartwarming seasonal stories. The holiday version of the nighttime experience transforms the centerpiece of Disney’s Animal Kingdom into a festive celebration that many guests consider one of the most underrated nighttime offerings at Walt Disney World. The projections typically begin after dark and repeat throughout the evening when the park remains open after sunset.

Holiday décor will once again be found throughout the park, particularly on Discovery Island, where sparkling luminaries, handcrafted decorations, and nature-inspired festive touches help create Animal Kingdom’s unique take on the season. Unlike the traditional Christmas decorations found elsewhere across Walt Disney World, Animal Kingdom’s holiday overlays focus heavily on wildlife, natural materials, and cultural celebrations.

Guests can also expect special holiday-themed character experiences during the season. In recent years, Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse have greeted guests in their festive holiday attire at Adventurers Outpost, while seasonal entertainment and character interactions have added even more holiday cheer throughout the park. Disney has not yet released complete entertainment schedules or character details for the 2026 season, but additional announcements are expected as the holidays draw closer.

Animal Kingdom’s holiday celebration continues to stand apart from the other Walt Disney World theme parks by blending festive traditions with the park’s conservation and storytelling themes. The result is a holiday experience that feels uniquely Animal Kingdom while still delivering the seasonal magic guests expect during the most wonderful time of the year.
