This is the Disney app update gift card users have been waiting YEARS for.

Disney has quietly rolled out a major quality-of-life update to both the Walt Disney World and Disneyland apps, allowing guests to save Disney Gift Cards as a default payment method through MyDisney Wallet.

Guests can now head to MyDisney Wallet, select “Add a Payment Method,” and save a Disney Gift Card directly to their account. Once added, the gift card can be used for most eligible purchases made through the Disney Parks apps, including Mobile Food & Beverage Ordering, theme park tickets, and other supported transactions.

This is a welcome improvement for guests who prefer using Disney Gift Cards to budget their vacations, redeem rewards, or pay with discounted gift cards purchased through warehouse clubs and select retailers. Instead of entering gift card information for every purchase, guests can now save their card for a much smoother checkout experience.

There is one notable limitation at launch. Lightning Lane purchases are not currently supported using Disney Gift Cards saved in MyDisney Wallet, so guests will still need to use another eligible payment method for those transactions.

You can also pull up a scannable barcode to use as well when you want to redeem your Disney Gift Card in person.

While not every purchase is compatible just yet, this marks one of the biggest payment improvements to the Disney Parks apps in recent years and should make managing vacation spending much easier for many guests.
