New aerial photos reveal significant construction progress on Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift at Universal Studios Florida, including additional track sections and newly installed ride motors that will eventually help launch guests through the high-speed coaster experience.

With construction moving at a steady pace, the project is beginning to look more and more like the attraction Universal announced earlier this year.

Recent aerial photos from bioreconstruct show crews continuing to install additional track sections across the former Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit site.

The newly added track expands several portions of the coaster’s layout, including areas near the attraction’s future launch sections and portions of the course that will weave through the New York area of Universal Studios Florida.

Construction crews have also continued work on support structures as the ride’s footprint becomes increasingly visible from around the park.

One of the most notable updates visible in the latest aerial images is the installation of ride motors along portions of the track.

These motors are expected to form part of the coaster’s launch system, which will propel ride vehicles through the attraction’s high-speed layout. While testing is still a long way off, the addition of these components represents a major step toward bringing the coaster to life.

The installation of motors typically signals that construction is beginning to move beyond basic track placement and into the ride’s operational systems.

When Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift opens at Universal Studios Florida in 2027, guests will board specially designed ride vehicles inspired by iconic cars from the Fast & Furious franchise.

Universal has previously announced that riders will experience the sensation of drifting as the coaster vehicles rotate throughout the course. The attraction will replace Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit and become one of the newest major additions to Universal Studios Florida.

The Florida version of the coaster will feature several unique elements, including a towering 170-foot vertical spike that will send riders high above the park before racing back through the attraction.

With new track, supports, and ride motors continuing to appear throughout the construction site, Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift is quickly becoming one of the most exciting projects currently underway at Universal Orlando Resort.

While guests still have some time to wait before experiencing the attraction for themselves, each construction update offers a clearer look at what will eventually become one of the resort’s most ambitious roller coasters.
