For the first time ever, guests can step inside Savi’s Workshop without paying the nearly $250 price tag.

Disney

As part of Disneyland’s summer offerings, a brand-new complimentary lightsaber-building experience is now available inside Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, giving young Jedi a chance to learn the ancient art of lightsaber construction without purchasing the full Savi’s Workshop experience.

Called the Youngling Saber Building Expo — A Loth-Cat Crew Experience, the limited-time offering is one of several family-focused additions debuting as part of Disneyland’s Kids Rule Summer celebration.

Beginning May 22, guests visiting Black Spire Outpost can participate in the Youngling Saber Building Expo at Savi’s Workshop.

The experience is recommended for children ages 3 to 9, who must be accompanied by an adult. During the offering, participants take part in an interactive lightsaber-building adventure and become members of the Loth-Cat Crew while learning about the traditions and lore behind lightsaber construction. Disney says that “kids and those who are kids at heart” can enjoy the experience as capacity allows.

Yes, It’s Free — But There’s a Catch

The biggest surprise may be the price.

Unlike the traditional Savi’s Workshop experience, which currently costs $249.99 plus tax and includes a custom lightsaber and carrying case, the Youngling Saber Building Expo is completely complimentary.

However, guests should note that the experience itself is free, but the lightsaber is not included.

Participants can build and interact with a lightsaber during the workshop, but if they wish to take it home, it must be purchased separately at the end of the experience. Disney indicated that pricing for the take-home lightsaber would be provided through the official Disneyland website. Guests who choose not to purchase the lightsaber will return it at the conclusion of the activity.

Walk-Up Availability at Savi’s Workshop

Unlike the standard Savi’s Workshop experience, which requires advance reservations, the Youngling Saber Building Expo operates with walk-up availability, subject to capacity.

The complimentary experience is offered daily from 10 AM to 2 PM, while the traditional reservation-based Savi’s Workshop experience continues from 2 PM to 9 PM each day.

A Rare Opportunity Inside Savi’s Workshop

For many families, this may be the first chance to step inside one of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge’s most immersive experiences without committing to the full cost of building a lightsaber.

Savi’s Workshop has long been considered one of Disneyland’s most popular premium experiences, thanks to its storytelling, atmosphere, and hands-on lightsaber construction process. The Youngling Saber Building Expo gives younger Star Wars fans a chance to experience some of that magic in a more accessible way.

Disney

While Disney has not announced an end date for the offering, the experience is currently listed as a limited-time summer activity at Disneyland Resort. Walt Disney World has not announced a similar version of the experience for Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
