Drum Major Mickey is getting ready to take the field once again.

Disneyland has announced the return of Disney on the Yard: Yardfest 2026, a special Juneteenth celebration taking place at the Downtown Disney District on Friday, June 19, as part of the resort’s ongoing Celebrate Soulfully: Summer Vibes festivities. The event will celebrate the traditions, culture, and spirit of Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) through music, entertainment, food, and community experiences.

The free event will run from 5 PM to 9 PM near the Downtown Disney Live! Stage and will feature appearances by Drum Major Mickey Mouse, who has been specially trained by HBCU drum majors to perform signature moves alongside six drum majors and the high-energy Texas Southern University Ocean of Soul Drumline. Showtimes are scheduled throughout the evening.

In addition to the entertainment, guests can enjoy live music from DJ Quami, trivia contests with prizes, giant family yard games, and opportunities to learn more about Disney on the Yard, Disney’s initiative supporting HBCU students and alumni through mentorship, internships, and career opportunities.

Yardfest is one of several experiences being offered as part of Disneyland Resort’s Celebrate Soulfully programming, which honors Black heritage and culture through entertainment, food, art, and special experiences across Disneyland Resort throughout the summer.

Special food and beverage offerings will also be available for purchase at Parkside Market, including Homecoming Sliders, a Red Velvet Whoopie Pie, a Royal Court Latte, Frozen Strawberry Yard-Ade, and a specialty cocktail called “The Yard.”

Best of all, no theme park admission is required to attend, making this one of the easiest ways for locals and visitors alike to experience a unique Disney celebration this summer.
