If you cried during “When She Loved Me,” you may want to prepare yourself for Toy Story 5.

Disney

Disney and Pixar have officially shared a first look at Emily, Jessie’s original owner, in the upcoming Toy Story 5, and fans are already bracing for what could be one of the film’s most emotional moments.

The newly released images show a young Emily spending time with Jessie in a series of warm, nostalgic scenes. In one image, Emily lovingly hugs Jessie close to her chest, while another shows the pair enjoying a carefree moment on a tire swing beneath autumn-colored trees.

For longtime Pixar fans, the images immediately call back to one of the most memorable sequences in franchise history.

A Return to Jessie’s Story

Emily first appeared in Toy Story 2 during Jessie’s iconic backstory sequence, which revealed how the beloved cowgirl toy was eventually outgrown and left behind by the child who once adored her.

The heartbreaking montage, paired with Sarah McLachlan’s “When She Loved Me,” remains one of the most emotional scenes Pixar has ever created.

Now, it appears Disney and Pixar may be revisiting that chapter of Jessie’s life in Toy Story 5. Here’s a look at the first teaser video from @DisneyStudioJ_A on X.

While Disney has not revealed the full context of the scene, the newly released images confirm that Emily will play some role in the upcoming film.

Fans Are Already Connecting the Dots

Almost immediately after the images were released, fans began speculating about another major Toy Story 5 development.

Earlier this year, Disney and Pixar announced that Taylor Swift had written and recorded an original song for the film titled “I Knew It, I Knew You.”

The song has been described as being connected to Jessie’s story, leading many fans to wonder if it could be featured during a flashback sequence involving Emily.

Disney has not confirmed where the song will appear in the film, but the emotional tone of the newly released images has already fueled theories that the scene and the song may be connected.

For fans who still haven’t recovered from “When She Loved Me,” the possibility is generating plenty of anticipation and a little anxiety.

What We Know About Toy Story 5

Disney and Pixar’s Toy Story 5 is scheduled to arrive in theaters on June 19, 2026.

The film reunites Woody, Buzz, Jessie, and the rest of the gang for a new adventure as the toys face the growing influence of technology in children’s lives.

While much of the story remains under wraps, Disney has slowly begun revealing new details, characters, and emotional story threads ahead of the film’s release.
