It finally happened — Disney World is officially operating BOTH water parks again!

After years of alternating seasonal operations following the COVID-19 pandemic, Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon has officially reopened, meaning both Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach are now operating at the same time for the first time once again.
Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon officially reopened on May 12 following a seasonal refurbishment closure, joining Disney’s Blizzard Beach for the summer season.
For the past several years, Walt Disney World has typically operated only one water park at a time, with Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach alternating closures throughout the year.

Now, both parks are finally welcoming guests simultaneously again, ahead of what Disney expects to be a busy summer travel season.
Disney’s Free Water Park Perk Is Back This Summer
The timing of Typhoon Lagoon’s reopening also lines up with Disney’s continued free water park admission perk for Walt Disney World Resort hotel guests on check-in day.

That benefit has already become incredibly popular with vacationers looking to maximize their Disney World trips while avoiding some of the peak theme park crowds during the summer months. Having both water parks open should help spread crowds out significantly.
Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach Offer VERY Different Experiences
While both parks are Disney water parks, they each have completely different themes and attractions.
Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon features a tropical storm-ravaged island theme complete with one of the world’s largest wave pools, Crush ‘n’ Gusher water coaster, and Miss Adventure Falls.

Meanwhile, Disney’s Blizzard Beach is themed to a melting ski resort and includes attractions like Summit Plummet, Teamboat Springs, and the Frozen-themed Tikes Peak kids area.
For longtime Disney fans, seeing both parks operational again honestly feels a little nostalgic.
Disney World’s Summer Season Is Officially Underway
The reopening of Typhoon Lagoon is just one part of Disney World’s massive summer rollout for 2026, which also includes COOL KIDS SUMMER offerings, new entertainment at Hollywood Studios, updated attractions, seasonal discounts, and expanded resort offerings.
And with Orlando already reporting record tourism numbers this year, Disney appears to be preparing for a VERY busy summer season ahead.
