Disney’s Tropical Americas expansion is changing FAST at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, and some major new construction milestones are now visible throughout the project site.

Tropical Americas construction

Newly spotted progress at the future Encanto attraction includes exterior paneling being added to the massive ride building, while additional construction activity continues across the former DinoLand U.S.A. area as Disney pushes forward on the park’s huge transformation.

One of the biggest recent changes is the addition of green exterior paneling now visible on multiple walls of the future Encanto attraction building.

The green coloration may actually represent the structure’s final “go-away-green” appearance, helping the large show building visually blend into the surrounding environment once landscaping and themed hills are completed around the attraction.

Walking into the land

In the newly updated construction photos, additional progress can also be seen around the surrounding site, including heavy excavation work, new utility installation, expanded concrete foundation areas, structural steel progress, active crane operations, and continued vertical construction.

Large construction vehicles and crews are currently spread throughout multiple sections of the future Tropical Americas land.

New Structures Are Starting To Take Shape

Beyond the Encanto ride building itself, several new vertical structures are now becoming visible behind the construction walls.

The latest photos show significant framework and exterior work happening on buildings that appear to be part of the future Pueblo Esperanza village area.

See the building?

One building visible near the former Restaurantosaurus footprint now has expanded roof framing and wrapped exterior sections, while nearby concrete and steel work continues progressing rapidly.

Additional construction activity can also be seen near the future carousel area, where crews appear to be preparing the queue and infrastructure spaces.

And honestly? Compared to just a few months ago, the entire area suddenly looks dramatically different.

The transformation of DinoLand U.S.A. into Tropical Americas has noticeably accelerated since the final closures of DINOSAUR, Restaurantosaurus, and what remained of DinoLand U.S.A. earlier this year.

It’s happening!

With the entire land now closed to guests, Disney has been able to dramatically expand construction operations across the site.

Disney previously confirmed that Tropical Americas (also known as Pueblo Esperanza) will include:

  • A new Encanto attraction
  • An Indiana Jones retheme of DINOSAUR
  • A large carousel
  • New dining locations
  • A themed playground
  • Tropical village environments

The land is currently expected to open sometime in 2027.

The Encanto attraction is expected to take guests inside Casita, the magical Madrigal family home from the film.

Several of the newly shared photos also show how little remains recognizable from the former DinoLand U.S.A.

Unrecognizable

Construction walls themed to Tropical Americas now surround nearly the entire area, while large sections of the former land have been completely demolished or heavily reworked.

Even longtime Animal Kingdom fans would probably struggle to recognize portions of the area now.

Love to see it

And based on how quickly things are progressing lately, guests are likely going to keep seeing big visible changes almost every week moving forward.
