According to new aerial photos shared by Bioreconstruct on X, large spotlights are now being installed behind the fireworks launch area located behind the Helios Grand Hotel at Universal Epic Universe.

The May 7 aerial images appear to show the lighting equipment positioned as part of what could become a layered nighttime spectacular at the new theme park.

The newly added spotlights are located near the established fireworks infrastructure behind the park’s central lagoon area. Based on the aerial photos, the lights appear positioned to create large-scale background lighting effects during nighttime entertainment performances.

This latest construction update adds even more fuel to ongoing speculation that Universal is continuing development on a larger nighttime show experience for Epic Universe.

Back in March, reports indicated that Universal had completed a permanent fireworks launch site behind the entrance lagoon near the Universal Helios Grand Hotel. The site reportedly included electrical infrastructure and a control bunker designed to support future nighttime entertainment offerings.

Universal has not officially announced a full nighttime fireworks spectacular for Epic Universe, but multiple signs continue pointing toward expanded entertainment arriving later.

Additional reports have noted:

  • Fireworks testing around the park
  • Recent hiring for fireworks technicians
  • Ongoing fountain system updates
  • Expanded nighttime lighting installations

According to Bioreconstruct’s update, the newly installed spotlights appear intended to act as a visual background layer for nighttime entertainment.

That could mean future Epic Universe shows may combine multiple elements, including fireworks, fountain effects, projection lighting, atmospheric spotlights, and potential drone elements.

Universal has not confirmed specifics yet, but layered nighttime spectaculars have become increasingly common across major theme parks in recent years.

Nighttime Entertainment Has Been a Big Question for Epic Universe

When Epic Universe officially opened, the park debuted without a large-scale fireworks spectacular. Instead, nighttime offerings primarily centered around fountain effects and lighting packages within Celestial Park.

However, fireworks have appeared in Epic Universe concept art dating back several years, and testing reportedly occurred prior to the park’s opening.

The addition of permanent spotlight infrastructure now makes it look increasingly likely that Universal is actively building toward something much larger.
