…and it all stems from a hotel stay that didn’t go as planned.

A new lawsuit has been filed against Walt Disney World, alleging that a guest suffered permanent damage from bed bug bites during a stay at one of the resort’s hotels. According to court documents, the incident dates back to May 15, 2022, when the guest stayed at Disney’s All-Star Sports Resort.

The lawsuit, filed in March 2026 in Orange County, Florida, claims the guest was “bitten numerous times” by bed bugs during the visit. The plaintiff, David Besse, is seeking damages exceeding $50,000, citing both physical and emotional harm allegedly caused by the incident.

According to the filing, the guest claims to have experienced scarring, bodily injury, pain and suffering, disability, and mental anguish, along with financial impacts such as medical expenses, loss of income, and property damage. The lawsuit also states that these effects may be ongoing or permanent.

The complaint further alleges that Disney failed to properly maintain safe conditions at the resort and did not adequately warn guests of potential risks. Specifically, the lawsuit argues that the company had a responsibility to ensure rooms were inspected and free of hazards like bed bug infestations.

At this time, the case is ongoing, and there has been no confirmed outcome. Situations like this are not uncommon in the broader hospitality industry, where bed bugs can occasionally appear even in well-maintained properties, though cases involving major resort brands tend to draw significant attention.

While lawsuits involving theme parks and resorts are not unusual, this case is gaining traction due to the severity of the claims and the mention of long-term or permanent impacts. It also highlights how even a single incident can lead to larger conversations about hotel safety, cleanliness standards, and guest expectations at major destinations like Walt Disney World.

As this story continues to develop, it’s one to watch, especially for frequent Disney travelers and those planning upcoming stays. Be sure to check back for more Disney World updates, news, and developments, as additional details about this case may emerge in the coming weeks.
