Grab your robes, polish your wand, and prepare to show some serious house pride — Universal Orlando is officially sending Harry Potter fans Back to Hogwarts!

Summer may still be in full swing, but the new school year is already approaching inside The Wizarding World of Harry Potter. Beginning August 1, 2026, Universal Orlando Resort will celebrate Back to Hogwarts with limited-time Harry Potter food, collectible merchandise, magical entertainment, interactive experiences, and offerings spread across all three Universal Orlando theme parks. And this year’s celebration comes with an especially nostalgic twist for longtime Wizarding World fans.
Back to Hogwarts is an annual seasonal celebration inspired by witches and wizards returning to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry for another school year.
The 2026 celebration begins August 1, with seasonal experiences expected to continue through September 1, 2026. This year’s event will also commemorate 25 Years of Magic, marking 25 years since the release of the first Harry Potter film.

Unlike a separately ticketed event, Back to Hogwarts consists of limited-time food, merchandise, entertainment, and character interactions offered throughout The Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Orlando Resort.
The celebration reaches all three Wizarding World locations:
- The Wizarding World of Harry Potter — Hogsmeade at Universal Islands of Adventure
- The Wizarding World of Harry Potter — Diagon Alley at Universal Studios Florida
- The Wizarding World of Harry Potter — Ministry of Magic at Universal Epic Universe
However, not every Back to Hogwarts offering will be available in every park, so guests hoping to experience everything may need admission to multiple Universal Orlando theme parks.
Hogwarts Always Lights Up Hogwarts Castle
One of the biggest entertainment offerings included in the Back to Hogwarts celebration is Hogwarts Always, the nighttime projection show presented against Hogwarts Castle in Hogsmeade at Universal Islands of Adventure.

The castle comes alive with colorful projections, dramatic lighting, music, and memorable moments inspired by a year at Hogwarts. The presentation follows students through familiar school traditions before concluding with one of the four Hogwarts houses winning the House Cup.

Guests should check the Universal Orlando app or official entertainment schedule during their visit because nighttime showtimes can vary based on park hours, operational changes, and weather conditions.
Meet the Hogwarts Express Train Conductor
Guests can also stop outside the Hogwarts Express in Hogsmeade to meet the train conductor.

The cheerful conductor is a familiar face inside The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, but Universal says he may have some additional advice to share during the Back to Hogwarts season as young witches and wizards prepare for the beginning of another school year.
This interaction also provides a fun Harry Potter photo opportunity, particularly for guests arriving in Hogwarts robes or displaying their house colors.
A Harry Potter 25th Anniversary Butterbeer Mug Is Coming
Butterbeer fans will have a new collectible to look for during the 2026 Back to Hogwarts celebration.
Universal Orlando is introducing a Harry Potter 25th Anniversary Butterbeer Mug commemorating 25 years since the first Harry Potter movie arrived in theaters.

The souvenir mug will be served with Butterbeer, the Wizarding World drink known for its sweet butterscotch and shortbread-inspired flavor. It will only be sold at Universal Studios Florida and Universal Islands of Adventure while supplies last.
Universal has not announced a price for the anniversary mug. Because it is specifically listed as available while supplies last, guests visiting later in the celebration may want to prepare for the possibility that it could sell out.
The mug has not been announced for The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Ministry of Magic at Epic Universe.
Hogwarts House Ice Lollies Are Available in Four Flavors
Guests looking for something refreshing during an August afternoon at Universal Orlando can celebrate their Hogwarts house with a themed ice lolly.
The Hogwarts House Ice Lollies are available at Eternelle’s Elixir of Refreshment in Diagon Alley at Universal Studios Florida. The colorful treats are now also available inside The Wizarding World of Harry Potter — Ministry of Magic at Epic Universe.
Each Hogwarts house has its own flavor combination:
Hufflepuff Ice Lolly
The Hufflepuff version combines pineapple and milk chocolate.
Gryffindor Ice Lolly
The Gryffindor version features peach and strawberry.
Slytherin Ice Lolly
The Slytherin version combines coconut and matcha.
Ravenclaw Ice Lolly
The Ravenclaw version features huckleberry and grape.
Between the bold house colors and distinct flavor combinations, these treats are designed to double as both a cooling snack and a themed Wizarding World photo opportunity.
Build a Custom Hogwarts House Bag With Lug
Harry Potter fans will also be able to create personalized Wizarding World accessories through a limited-time collaboration with Lug.

The Wizarding World of Harry Potter x Build-A-Bag collection by Lug will be available exclusively inside the Universal Orlando theme parks.
Guests can mix and match different:
- Bag styles
- Straps
- Charms
- Accessories
The customizable collection allows fans to create a bag representing their personal style, favorite Hogwarts house, or overall love of the Wizarding World.
Because the collection is described as a limited-time theme park exclusive, availability may vary throughout the Back to Hogwarts celebration.
Practice Spells With Second-Generation Interactive Wands
Universal Orlando’s second-generation interactive wands will also play a role in the Back to Hogwarts festivities.

These upgraded Harry Potter wands provide additional feedback while guests perform spells throughout the Wizarding World, including customized illumination, physical haptic vibrations, and special effects connected to individual spell locations.
Second-generation interactive wands are sold in all three Wizarding World lands at Universal Orlando Resort:
- Hogsmeade at Islands of Adventure
- Diagon Alley at Universal Studios Florida
- The Ministry of Magic at Epic Universe

The wands can be used at interactive spell locations throughout the lands, giving guests another way to participate in the Back to Hogwarts season beyond shopping and seasonal snacks.
Do You Need a Park-to-Park Ticket?
Guests should pay close attention to where each Back to Hogwarts offering is located before purchasing tickets or building their Universal Orlando itinerary.
A standard single-park ticket only provides admission to the selected park. Guests who want to ride the Hogwarts Express between Universal Studios Florida and Islands of Adventure must have eligible Park-to-Park admission.

The Hogwarts Express connects Diagon Alley and Hogsmeade, but it does not travel to Epic Universe. Guests who also want to visit The Wizarding World of Harry Potter — Ministry of Magic will need separate admission that includes Epic Universe.
For example, the anniversary Butterbeer mug is limited to Universal Studios Florida and Islands of Adventure, while the Hogwarts House Ice Lollies are available at Universal Studios Florida and Epic Universe.
That means there is no single Wizarding World location containing every Back to Hogwarts offering announced for 2026.

Universal Orlando’s Back to Hogwarts celebration begins August 1, 2026. The seasonal celebration is reported to run through September 1, 2026, although individual food, merchandise, entertainment, and character offerings may have different schedules or availability. The 25th Anniversary Butterbeer Mug and other merchandise may also sell out before the celebration ends.
Prices, entertainment schedules, park hours, operating dates, and product availability can change, so guests should check the Universal Orlando app and official website before their visit.
Whether you are proudly representing Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, or Slytherin, you may want to start planning your visit now.
