This coaster just went from “coming soon” to VERY real.

We’ve been watching this project rise, twist, and dominate the skyline — but now? It just hit a major milestone that changes everything.
As reported by KTLA, for the first time, actual riders have been spotted testing Universal’s highly anticipated Fast & Furious roller coaster…and let’s just say — it’s moving FAST!

At Universal Studios Hollywood, testing has officially entered a new phase for Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift. Recent footage shows real people onboard the coaster trains as they speed through the track, marking one of the final steps before opening.

Up until now, testing has largely been limited to empty trains or weighted dummies. But adding real riders signals that the attraction is getting closer to welcoming guests—and that Universal is fine-tuning the full experience under real-world conditions.
And this isn’t just any coaster.

Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift is set to be Universal’s first high-speed outdoor roller coaster at the Hollywood park, featuring spinning ride vehicles designed to simulate drifting — just like in the films.
We’re talking speeds up to around 72 miles per hour, with dynamic movements that include rotations, launches, and a layout that weaves through the park’s hillside terrain.

The ride vehicles themselves are themed to iconic cars from the franchise, putting guests right into the action as if they’re part of the crew. And based on early testing footage? This thing looks intense!!
The coaster is currently on track to open in summer 2026, making it one of the most anticipated theme park additions of the year — not just for Universal, but across the entire industry.

Seeing real riders onboard is always one of those “it’s happening” moments in the theme park world, and this one feels especially big.
Between the speed, the spinning vehicles, and the Fast & Furious theming, this coaster is shaping up to be a headline attraction that could redefine what guests expect from Universal Studios Hollywood.
