If you’ve been missing those extra late-night hours at Magic Kingdom, we’ve got some exciting news for your next Walt Disney World vacation! Extended Evening Theme Park Hours are officially returning to Magic Kingdom on Wednesday, January 6, 2027!

After being absent from the park’s schedule for much of the fall and holiday season, this popular resort guest benefit is making its long-awaited return, giving eligible guests two additional hours to experience Magic Kingdom after the park closes to regular visitors. And for anyone who loves experiencing Cinderella Castle illuminated at night with potentially shorter attraction wait times, this is definitely something worth celebrating!

Magic Kingdom Extended Evening Hours Return January 6

According to Walt Disney World’s newly updated park hours calendar, the first confirmed Extended Evening Hours event at Magic Kingdom in 2027 is scheduled for:

  • Date: Wednesday, January 6, 2027
  • Regular park hours: 9 AM to 9 PM
  • Early Theme Park Entry: 8:30 AM
  • Extended Evening Hours: 9 PM to 11 PM
  • Admission: Included for eligible resort guests with valid theme park admission

This marks the first scheduled Extended Evening Hours event at Magic Kingdom since September 9, 2026. The perk was moved to other Walt Disney World theme parks during the busy Halloween and Christmas party seasons, when Magic Kingdom’s nighttime schedule is frequently affected by separately ticketed events.

Disney

As of October 28, Disney has only published its park hours calendar through January 7, 2027, so January 6 is currently the only confirmed Magic Kingdom Extended Evening Hours date for the new year. Additional dates may be announced as Disney releases more of its January calendar.

Which Disney World Guests Qualify for Extended Evening Hours?

Unlike Early Theme Park Entry, which is available to guests at all Disney Resort hotels and certain other participating hotels, Extended Evening Hours are reserved for a smaller group of resort guests.

The benefit is available to registered guests staying at:

  • Disney Deluxe Resort Hotels, including Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, and Disney’s Contemporary Resort.
  • Disney Deluxe Villa Resorts, including Disney Vacation Club properties such as Disney’s Riviera Resort, Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa, and Disney’s Old Key West Resort.
  • Select additional hotels, including the Walt Disney World Swan, Dolphin, Swan Reserve, and Shades of Green.

Eligible guests must also have valid theme park admission and meet any applicable park reservation requirements. The best part? There is no separate ticket or additional event admission charge for Extended Evening Hours. The benefit is included with qualifying resort stays.

Which Magic Kingdom Attractions Are Available?

One of the biggest reasons guests love Extended Evening Hours at Magic Kingdom is the opportunity to enjoy some of the park’s most popular attractions after regular closing time.

Disney’s current list of participating attractions includes:

  • TRON Lightcycle / Run
  • Seven Dwarfs Mine Train
  • Space Mountain
  • Haunted Mansion
  • Pirates of the Caribbean
  • Peter Pan’s Flight
  • Big Thunder Mountain Railroad
  • Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin
  • The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh
  • “it’s a small world”
  • Dumbo the Flying Elephant
  • Under the Sea ~ Journey of The Little Mermaid

Additional attractions and entertainment experiences may also be available. Keep in mind that attraction availability can change, and Disney does not guarantee that every listed attraction will operate during every Extended Evening Hours event.

EPCOT and Animal Kingdom Also Have Extended Evening Hours Scheduled

While Magic Kingdom’s return is the biggest announcement, Disney’s calendar also confirms additional Extended Evening Hours at other parks.

Here’s a look at the schedule currently posted for the beginning of 2027:

ParkConfirmed January DateExtended Hours
EPCOTMonday, January 49–11 PM
Magic KingdomWednesday, January 69–11 PM

Disney’s Animal Kingdom will continue offering Wednesday Extended Evening Hours from 6 PM to 8 PM throughout November and December 2026, before Magic Kingdom resumes the Wednesday slot in January.

As Disney releases additional park hours, more dates could be added or adjusted.

My Take

I’m genuinely excited to see Extended Evening Hours returning to Magic Kingdom because, in my opinion, this is one of the BEST parks to take advantage of the benefit! There’s something so special about being in Magic Kingdom late at night, especially when Main Street, U.S.A. is glowing, Cinderella Castle is beautifully illuminated, and you have the opportunity to experience some of the park’s biggest attractions without the usual daytime crowds. Two extra hours might not sound like much, but when you plan them well, you can accomplish quite a bit!

I also think this is particularly welcome news for guests paying the premium to stay at a Disney Deluxe Resort or Deluxe Villa. Extended Evening Hours can be a meaningful part of that value, and I know many guests prefer having the option at Magic Kingdom over some of the other parks. I’m hoping Disney continues the Wednesday schedule throughout January, although we’ll have to wait for the next calendar updates to know for sure!
