Disney Cruise Line fans have something exciting to look forward to this November, and you won’t even need to board a ship to experience it! A brand-new Disney Cruise Line original documentary, Disney Adventure: Charting a New Course, will premiere on Disney+ on November 28, 2026!

The documentary will explore the creation of the Disney Adventure, the newest and largest ship in Disney Cruise Line’s fleet, giving fans a look at the journey behind one of Disney’s most ambitious cruise projects. And considering how unusual this ship’s story has been, there’s plenty to explore!
Disney Adventure: Charting a New Course Arrives November 28
The upcoming documentary was announced on October 28, along with official promotional artwork featuring the Disney Adventure sailing across the ocean.
Here’s what we know so far:
- Title: Disney Adventure: Charting a New Course
- Premiere date: Saturday, November 28, 2026
- Streaming platform: Disney+
- Subject: The creation and launch of Disney Cruise Line’s Disney Adventure
The documentary is expected to follow the ship’s transformation and journey toward its debut in Singapore earlier this year. Disney has not yet announced the documentary’s runtime or released a detailed episode breakdown.
The Disney Adventure Has a Fascinating Backstory
Unlike most Disney Cruise Line ships, the Disney Adventure wasn’t originally designed for Disney. The vessel began its life as the Global Dream, an unfinished cruise ship intended for another cruise operator. Following the original owner’s financial collapse, Disney acquired the partially completed ship in 2022 and transformed it into an entirely new Disney Cruise Line experience. That meant adapting an existing vessel into a ship filled with Disney, Pixar, and Marvel storytelling, rather than building one entirely from scratch.
It’s a fascinating undertaking, and one that makes the Disney Adventure particularly interesting as the subject of a documentary.
After years of work, the ship was delivered in December 2025 and embarked on a journey from Germany to its new home in Singapore, making stops that included Port Canaveral, Los Angeles, and Tokyo. The Disney Adventure officially welcomed guests aboard for its maiden voyage on March 10, 2026.
What Makes the Disney Adventure Different?
The Disney Adventure isn’t just another addition to Disney Cruise Line’s growing fleet. It’s the largest ship in the fleet and the first Disney Cruise Line vessel to homeport in Asia, operating from Singapore. The ship features seven themed areas inspired by Disney, Pixar, and Marvel stories, offering experiences that go beyond traditional cruise entertainment.

Some of its standout attractions and experiences include:
- Ironcycle Test Run: A Marvel-themed roller coaster at sea.
- San Fransokyo Street: A themed area inspired by Disney’s Big Hero 6.
- Broadway-style entertainment: Including the original stage production Remember.
- Disney character experiences: Featuring familiar faces and special entertainment throughout the ship.
- Themed dining and family activities: Designed to make the ship itself a major part of the vacation experience.
The Disney Adventure currently offers three- and four-night sailings from Singapore, introducing Disney Cruise Line to a new international audience.
A Behind-the-Scenes Look at Disney Cruise Line’s Expansion
The documentary arrives during a period of major growth for Disney Cruise Line. With the Disney Adventure joining the fleet in 2026, Disney now operates eight cruise ships and has announced plans to expand to 13 ships by 2031.
That expansion includes new vessels, additional destinations, and opportunities for guests around the world to experience Disney vacations at sea. The Disney Adventure represents a particularly important milestone because it introduces Disney Cruise Line to the Asian cruise market in a way the company has never attempted before.
And now, fans will have the opportunity to learn more about the work that went into making it happen.
My Take
I absolutely LOVE when Disney releases behind-the-scenes documentaries, especially when they give us a closer look at how these massive projects come together. The Disney Adventure has such an interesting story because Disney took an unfinished ship that was never originally intended to be part of its fleet and turned it into something completely different. I’m especially curious to see how the Imagineers and creative teams approached that challenge, and I hope we get to see plenty of the design decisions, construction work, and details that guests might never notice onboard.
I also think it’s wonderful that Disney is bringing this story to Disney+ because so many Disney fans, myself included, may not have the opportunity to sail on the Disney Adventure anytime soon. A documentary like this is a fun way to experience a little of that magic from home while appreciating the enormous amount of work that goes into creating a Disney cruise ship
