Walt Disney World and the Orlando Magic just announced that they are extending their sponsorship agreement, which means the Disney name is staying on the Magic’s jerseys.

And they did not just shake hands and call it a day. They also unveiled a brand-new, redesigned Walt Disney World Atrium inside the Kia Center, and I have thoughts.
The announcement came on Monday, October 12, 2026, at the Kia Center. Disney’s brand stays on the Magic’s uniforms, and the redesigned atrium comes with updated artwork and some advanced projection technology that is designed to transform the space during games and other events. The projected imagery is said to come from Walt Disney World theme parks, which sounds like exactly the kind of thing that will make you stop in the middle of a crowded concourse and say “oh, wow” out loud.
However, there are things we don’t know about this renewal, like the length of the extension or the financial terms. I also have not seen details on the size or design of the jersey patch, or a list of specific community programs tied to this new agreement. The Champions of the Community name has been used for the partnership, and the teams have talked about a shared commitment to Central Florida, but I do not want to guess at specifics that have not been announced.

Walt Disney World became a Champions of the Community sponsor of the Magic in 2010, which is also the year the arena first opened, back when it had a different name. In 2017, Disney became the team’s official jersey sponsor. That makes this a relationship that goes back a good 16 years, and it has been renewed along the way. A 2022 extension, for example, kept Disney’s presence in the arena through an earlier Disney Atrium and a special seating and hospitality area for select home games, plus sponsorship of a local charity golf tournament. So when I say this is a longtime partnership, I mean it.
The folks involved had sweet things to say about it, too. Charlie Freeman, the Magic’s president of business operations, said he does not think you could think of a better partner to have on the jersey. Joe Schott, the president of Walt Disney World, talked about creating magical memories that last a lifetime and called the atrium a vibrant welcome for fans. That is a nice way to put it, and honestly, the idea of a welcome space that feels a little bit like walking into a theme park is pretty charming.
A Magic game is a great outing for kids and adults alike, with the music, the energy, and the chance to see a team that Central Florida kids grow up rooting for. A space like the new atrium, with projections of Walt Disney World imagery, could be a fun photo stop and a nice moment for little ones who are not totally into basketball yet. And if you are a Disney fan who has not been to a game, I would say this is a pretty easy way to turn an evening into something that feels a little bit magical.

It is also a good reminder of how deeply Disney is woven into Orlando. It is not just a place where visitors come to spend a vacation. For a lot of locals, it is part of the fabric of the city, from jobs to community events to a logo on a favorite team’s jersey. That is my take on it, but I think a lot of Central Florida folks would nod along.
I am a fan of this one. It is a feel-good story, and I love when Disney shows up in the community in ways that are visible and fun. The jersey is a nice nod to the area, and the atrium sounds like a cool upgrade that regular fans and families can actually enjoy. I would love to see more details, like how long the deal runs and what the community side looks like, because that is the part that really shows how a partnership is making a difference. But for now, I am happy to see a long-running partnership get a little extra sparkle.
Are you a Magic fan, and would you swing by the new atrium for a photo? Tell me in the comments, and keep coming back to Theme Park Scope for more Disney news, Central Florida happenings, and family-friendly fun.
