Halloween season at Disney Springs just got a genuinely fun little wrinkle.
The “Create Your Own Headband” line, usually filled with classic, friendly Disney faces, just went full villain.
This new line follows the same concept as the regular Create Your Own Headband plush — small, round character heads with a self-stick strap that clips onto a plain headband, letting you mix and match your own custom lineup. The twist here is that these come sealed in a mystery box, so you don’t know which villain you’re getting until you open it.
There are two different box designs currently on shelves, each showing which characters you might pull:
Box One features:
- Yzma (from The Emperor’s New Groove), depicted in her cat form
- Maleficent (Sleeping Beauty)
- Hades (Hercules)
- Secret Character #1
Box Two features:
- Ursula (The Little Mermaid)
- Poison Apple (Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs) — a fun departure from an actual character, playing on the apple itself as the “villain” of that story
- Secret Character #2
Between the two boxes, that’s 7 total plush in the collection, including the two secret characters nobody’s identified yet. If you want a taste of what a finished product looks like before committing, there’s a display headband on the shelf already built with Yzma, Ursula, and Maleficent attached together; proof that mixing and matching across different villain “eras” works better than you’d expect.
Each mystery plush box runs $13.99, and a plain headband to attach them to costs $11.99 separately. We spotted this collection at World of Disney in Disney Springs, so that’s your best bet if you’re hunting for these in person.
Since Disney hasn’t revealed either mystery character yet, this is purely speculation on our part, but a few names feel like obvious gaps in the current lineup: Cruella de Vil, Jafar, Scar, Gaston, and Dr. Facilier have all gotten plenty of merchandise attention elsewhere and would fit naturally alongside Maleficent, Ursula, and Hades. We wouldn’t be shocked if one or both secret slots turn out to be one of these, but until Disney or a lucky shopper reveals them, it’s anyone’s guess.
Villain-themed merchandise tends to have a shorter shelf life than the usual princess and classic-character lineups, so if a fully villain-stocked headband sounds like a fun way to mark the season, this is worth grabbing sooner rather than later. The mystery box format also adds a nice bit of extra fun to the purchase — there’s something satisfying about not knowing whether you’re about to pull Hades or a total surprise.
