Something is screaming through the fog at Halloween Horror Nights this year — and apparently, it was NOT supposed to get out!

Universal Studios Hollywood just announced another terrifying addition to its Halloween Horror Nights 2026 lineup, and this time we’re stepping into a sinister sideshow where the main attraction has escaped.

The new experience is called Shriek of the Banshee, and rather than being one of this year’s traditional haunted houses or scare zones, Universal is describing it as a street experience.

And judging by the premise, curiosity might be a very bad idea this time around.

Guests wandering through the fog will stumble across a bizarre sideshow filled with things Universal describes as strange, unnatural, and deadly. But those oddities aren’t the real problem.

The sideshow’s main attraction is a demonic banshee. and it has escaped its confines.

Universal hasn’t revealed many additional details yet, including exactly where Shriek of the Banshee will be located inside Universal Studios Hollywood or precisely what guests will encounter as they move through the area.

But its designation as a street experience gives us some idea of what to expect.

Street experiences at Halloween Horror Nights are similar to scare zones, but they generally function more like high-energy entertainment or dance-party-style experiences rather than the traditional walk-through scare zones found throughout the park.

And Shriek of the Banshee won’t be the only one this year. Universal Studios Hollywood has also announced Murder of Crowz as another street experience for Halloween Horror Nights 2026.

Those will exist alongside this year’s traditional scare zones, which currently include Blood Bog, Fortnite, Hackerz, and El Circo de la Muerte. Halloween Horror Nights 2026 at Universal Studios Hollywood runs on select nights from September 3rd through November 1st.

This year’s event already has a packed lineup that includes haunted houses inspired by Ozzy Osbourne, Evil Dead, Hellraiser, Stranger Things 5, Sinners, and Killer Klowns From Outer Space, along with original concepts Killceañera: Music by Slash and Dead, Deader, Deadest.

Guests can also expect Art the Clown to headline this year’s Terror Tram, while The Purge: Dangerous Waters returns to the WaterWorld amphitheater.

And now there’s a demonic banshee loose somewhere in the middle of all that. Because, apparently, the haunted houses weren’t enough.
