One of Walt Disney World’s newest nighttime spectaculars is about to disappear on some of the busiest nights of the year.

Disney has confirmed that Disney Starlight: Dream the Night Away will not be performed on evenings when Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party takes over Magic Kingdom during the 2026 holiday season. The operational change mirrors what guests have already experienced during Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party season, when the nighttime parade does not run on party dates.

For guests unfamiliar with the schedule, Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party is a separately ticketed event held on select nights at Magic Kingdom during November and December. Because the party begins before the park’s regular operating day concludes, Disney must clear non-party guests from the park and transition entertainment offerings to the exclusive event lineup.

That means guests hoping to experience both Disney Starlight and Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party during the same evening won’t be able to do so.

The news is significant because Disney Starlight: Dream the Night Away has quickly become one of the most popular entertainment offerings at Walt Disney World since debuting at Magic Kingdom. The nighttime parade celebrates beloved Disney stories through illuminated floats, music, special effects, and cutting-edge technology, marking the return of a permanent nighttime parade to Magic Kingdom for the first time in years.

While Disney has not yet released the complete 2026 Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party calendar, guests planning holiday vacations should keep this scheduling change in mind when selecting their park days. If seeing Disney Starlight is a priority, visitors may want to choose a Magic Kingdom day that does not coincide with a Christmas Party date.

The scheduling decision isn’t entirely surprising. During the fall season, Disney Starlight does not perform on evenings when Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party is taking place. Industry observers and Disney fans had long expected the same approach would be used once the Christmas party season arrived. Disney’s entertainment calendars and historical party operations make the logistics difficult for both offerings to coexist on the same evening.

Instead, party guests will continue to receive exclusive holiday entertainment unavailable during normal park hours. Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party traditionally features Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmastime Parade, Minnie’s Wonderful Christmastime Fireworks, specialty character meet-and-greets, complimentary holiday treats, and other seasonal entertainment offerings.

For many guests, the biggest challenge will be deciding which experience is the higher priority. Disney Starlight has become one of the most sought-after nighttime experiences at Magic Kingdom, while Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party remains one of Walt Disney World’s most popular special-ticketed events each holiday season.

As Disney continues releasing more details about the 2026 holiday season, additional information regarding Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party dates, ticket prices, entertainment schedules, and operating hours is expected in the coming weeks.
