Construction is moving quickly on the future Monsters, Inc. door vault roller coaster at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and the latest aerial photos reveal one of the biggest milestones yet. The massive show building continues to rise out of the ground, and for the first time, guests can begin spotting the infrastructure that will eventually support the attraction itself.

The newest aerial overview shows that the steel framework for the main attraction building has expanded significantly, with multiple floors now clearly visible throughout the structure. Since our last update, crews have continued installing steel beams across the building, creating what will become the coaster’s multi-level indoor show scenes.

One of the biggest developments visible in the latest construction photos is the addition of track for the attraction’s service floor. While this isn’t guest ride track, it represents another major step in preparing the building for the complex ride system that will eventually be installed throughout the attraction.

Perhaps the most exciting detail, however, is the appearance of the first elevated ride supports. These taller gray structural supports are expected to hold the coaster track for the attraction’s opening scene, marking the first visible signs of where guests will actually travel once the attraction opens.

The images also showcase the enormous scale of the project. Large sections of concrete flooring have already been poured adjacent to the steel structure, while crews continue assembling additional framing, utility infrastructure, and mechanical systems throughout the building. Heavy equipment, cranes, and construction materials remain spread across the site as work continues at a rapid pace.

Disney announced that the new attraction will anchor Monstropolis, a brand-new land inspired by Pixar’s Monsters, Inc. at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. The land will feature Disney’s first-ever suspended roller coaster, inspired by the iconic door vault chase from the film. Guests will board the coaster before launching into the warehouse, weaving through countless hanging doors just like Mike and Sulley.

While much of the attraction is still hidden behind steel and construction walls, these aerial photos show just how quickly the project is progressing. With multiple levels now framed, service infrastructure beginning to take shape, and the first ride supports now standing above the structure, construction is entering an exciting new phase.

As crews continue adding steel, flooring, and eventually ride track throughout the building, the coaster is becoming easier to visualize with each passing week. Although there’s still a considerable amount of work ahead, the latest construction update offers one of the clearest looks yet at the future home of one of Disney’s most anticipated attractions.
