The air conditioning still isn’t fully back, but guests are finally getting some relief.

Disney’s Wilderness Lodge Resort

Disney continues working to restore air conditioning at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge, and while the resort-wide outage remains unresolved, new temporary cooling measures are now helping guests stay more comfortable during Central Florida’s intense summer heat. Portable air conditioning units, evaporative coolers, and fans have been deployed throughout portions of the Deluxe Resort as crews continue repairs.

Guests visiting Wilderness Lodge will now notice a variety of portable cooling systems positioned throughout the resort’s public spaces.

According to reports from the resort, Disney has installed portable spot air conditioners with flexible ductwork routed into the building’s ceiling in areas such as the gift shop and quick-service dining location. Elsewhere, freestanding evaporative coolers are providing localized airflow, while additional fans have been placed behind merchandise counters, at the front desk, and in Cast Member work areas.

While these units don’t replace the building’s central air conditioning, they are helping create cooler pockets in the busiest guest areas.

Relief Is Noticeable — But the Problem Isn’t Fixed

Guests report that the cooling equipment is making a difference, particularly when standing near the temporary units. However, the relief is localized, and much of the resort’s large lobby and upper-level common areas remain noticeably warmer than normal.

The outage first began on June 18, affecting guest rooms, restaurants, and public spaces throughout the main lodge. During the early days of the outage, Story Book Dining at Artist Point and Whispering Canyon Café temporarily stopped accepting reservations before later reopening as conditions improved.

Heat Advisory Adds to the Challenge

The ongoing repairs come as Central Florida has experienced dangerous summer temperatures, with recent heat advisories bringing “feels like” temperatures into the triple digits. Although conditions have improved slightly, Orlando continues to see daytime highs in the mid-90s, making reliable air conditioning especially important for guests returning to the resort after long park days.

National Weather Service

Disney has not publicly shared the cause of the outage or provided an official timeline for when the central cooling system will be fully restored. However, reports indicate that guests have been offered relocation options and other accommodations while repairs continue.

We’ll Continue Monitoring the Situation

While the temporary cooling equipment is helping improve comfort throughout portions of the resort, Wilderness Lodge is not yet back to normal. We’ll continue watching for updates from Disney as crews work to fully restore air conditioning throughout the iconic resort.
