Quinta Brunson is officially entering a new Disney era.

The creator and star of Abbott Elementary is making a major behind-the-scenes move in the television world, and for Disney fans, ABC viewers, and anyone who has been following the rise of one of network TV’s biggest modern comedies, this is a pretty big deal. Brunson is leaving Warner Bros. Television and signing a new multi-year overall deal with Disney Television Studios’ 20th Television, which means her production company, Fifth Chance Productions, will now be creating work under the Disney Entertainment Television umbrella.
Quinta Brunson, best known as the creator and star of the award-winning ABC comedy Abbott Elementary, has signed with 20th Television after previously being based at Warner Bros. Television. The new agreement brings Brunson and her Fifth Chance Productions banner more officially into the Disney family, where she will develop new projects for Disney Entertainment Television.

And yes, this is especially notable because Abbott Elementary already has deep Disney connections. The hit comedy airs on ABC, while 20th Television is also part of the show’s production world. With this new deal, Brunson’s future projects will now be developed under the same larger Disney television umbrella that includes ABC, Hulu, Disney+, and other Disney Entertainment Television brands and platforms.
In a statement about the move, Brunson shared her gratitude for Disney, Warner Bros. Television, and 20th Television, calling the process of building Abbott Elementary together one of the most rewarding experiences of her career. She also said she is proud of what the team has accomplished and excited to officially establish Fifth Chance under the Disney and 20th Television banner.

Brunson also described the partnership as an exciting next chapter for her as a creator, producer, and storyteller, while thanking Disney Entertainment leaders including Dana Walden, Debra O’Connell, Craig Erwich, Karey Burke, and the teams who have supported her vision.
For fans, this move does not mean Abbott Elementary is suddenly going anywhere. Instead, it strengthens Brunson’s ongoing creative relationship with Disney and 20th Television as the series continues to grow. The deal also positions Brunson to create, develop, write, and executive produce more television projects across Disney’s platforms in the future.
Brunson’s Disney connections are not limited to Abbott Elementary, either. She is also the voice of Dr. Fuzzby in Zootopia 2, adding another Disney credit to her already very busy résumé.

So, while this may not be a theme park construction wall or a new popcorn bucket, it is still a major Disney entertainment update worth watching. Quinta Brunson has become one of television’s most recognizable modern comedy voices, and with Fifth Chance Productions now officially aligned with Disney Television Studios’ 20th Television, we could be seeing a lot more from her across the Disney entertainment universe.
