Good news for Disney Springs chocolate lovers: Ghirardelli’s temporary move appears to be moving forward.

Ghirardelli Soda Fountain shop

A new signage permit has been filed for Ghirardelli Soda Fountain & Chocolate Shop at Disney Springs, giving us another clue that the popular dessert location is getting closer to opening its temporary home in Town Center.

The permit was filed for Ghirardelli’s upcoming temporary location while the company prepares for a major remodel of its longtime Disney Springs Marketplace location.

The temporary location is expected to take over the former Sprinkles space, which was most recently used as a temporary Black Tap CrazyShake location. That puts Ghirardelli in Disney Springs’ Town Center area while work happens on the original shop.

The permit was filed for signage, which is usually one of those “small but meaningful” construction steps that suggest a project is actively moving toward opening. No opening date has been announced yet for the temporary location, and Disney has not announced an exact closure date for the current Marketplace shop.

Ghirardelli’s original Disney Springs location is expected to undergo a significant remodel designed to add more indoor seating, improve checkout efficiency, reduce guest wait times, and include a few still-unannounced surprises for visitors.

The chocolate shop has been part of Disney Springs for nearly 30 years, making this temporary move a notable change for one of the area’s most recognizable dessert stops.

Once the refurbishment is complete, Ghirardelli is expected to return to its original Marketplace location in Spring 2027.

For now, guests looking for sundaes, chocolate, shakes, and sweet treats at Disney Springs should keep an eye on both the current Marketplace location and the future Town Center spot as the transition continues.
