One of EPCOT’s most beloved entertainment acts just received a surprisingly major update.

For the first time ever, Disney has installed official signage for the Voices of Liberty at EPCOT’s American Adventure pavilion — giving the iconic a cappella group a much more visible presence at the park after more than 40 years of performances.
The newly added sign can now be found to the left of the entrance doors to The American Adventure inside EPCOT’s World Showcase. The existing sign for The American Adventure attraction remains positioned on the right side of the entrance.
According to Cast Members, this marks the first time the Voices of Liberty has ever received dedicated signage in the pavilion’s history.

That’s pretty remarkable considering the group has been performing at EPCOT since opening day on October 1, 1982.
The Sign Features Classic Voices of Liberty Imagery
The new signage includes artwork featuring members of the Voices of Liberty wearing their classic costumes alongside patriotic imagery, including the Liberty Bell, the Betsy Ross flag, and historical Americana-inspired design elements.
The sign also lists the group’s daily performance times, helping increase visibility for guests walking through World Showcase who may not realize live performances are taking place inside the rotunda.

According to the report, Disney added the sign partly because guest satisfaction scores for the group remain extremely strong among visitors who actually experience the performance, but overall awareness among EPCOT guests has historically been lower than expected.
Voices of Liberty Has Been an EPCOT Staple Since 1982
When EPCOT opened in 1982, the Voices of Liberty became one of the park’s original live entertainment offerings inside The American Adventure pavilion.
The group was founded and originally led by arranger and composer Derric Johnson, who helped create the show ahead of EPCOT’s opening.

At the time, a cappella music was considered a risky entertainment concept for a theme park environment. According to Johnson, Disney Entertainment leadership initially questioned whether the format would work at all.
That skepticism reportedly changed quickly once performances began inside the marble rotunda of The American Adventure.
“Shenandoah” Became a Defining Song
One story highlighted in the report involved an early rehearsal performance of “Shenandoah.”
According to Johnson, Disney music staff worried the slow, soft arrangement would not connect with EPCOT guests. But during rehearsals, while construction workers were still actively building the pavilion, the workers reportedly stopped what they were doing and quietly listened to the performance from the balconies above.
“Shenandoah” later became one of the most requested songs in Voices of Liberty’s history.
President Reagan Helped Cement the Group’s Future
Another pivotal moment reportedly happened during a visit by President Ronald Reagan.
According to the story, Reagan stopped mid-exit while the group performed “Battle Hymn of the Republic” inside The American Adventure.

The performance reportedly left such a strong impression that Disney extended the group’s contract and expanded the number of daily performances from eight to sixteen shows per day.
More than four decades later, the Voices of Liberty continues performing regularly at EPCOT, including special holiday performances during Candlelight Processional and seasonal events.

The addition of dedicated signage finally gives the group a more visible presence at The American Adventure pavilion and may help introduce even more guests to one of the best live performances anywhere at Walt Disney World.
