If you’re planning a Disneyland visit later this summer, one iconic attraction may be off your must-do list.

Disneyland Resort has officially added Matterhorn Bobsleds to its refurbishment calendar beginning July 20, 2026.
At this time, Disney has not announced a reopening date for the beloved Fantasyland attraction. As with all Disneyland refurbishment schedules, dates remain subject to change. Guests planning upcoming visits should continue monitoring Disneyland’s official operating calendar for the latest updates.

The Matterhorn Bobsleds has been a Disneyland icon since its debut in 1959, making it the world’s first tubular steel roller coaster and one of Walt Disney’s most ambitious projects. The attraction takes guests on a thrilling journey through the snow-capped Matterhorn mountain while encountering the legendary Abominable Snowman along the way.
While Disney has not shared details regarding the scope of the upcoming refurbishment, the attraction periodically undergoes maintenance projects ranging from track work and show element upgrades to general operational improvements designed to keep the classic attraction running smoothly.

The announcement comes as Disneyland continues preparing for a busy summer season and ongoing celebrations throughout the resort. Guests hoping to experience the attraction before the closure will have a limited window to ride before refurbishment begins on July 20.
