Looks like fans may have hit the brakes a little too soon.

After excitement spread across the theme park community over a reported opening date for Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift, Universal Studios Hollywood has now confirmed that the date was posted in error.
In a statement shared by the park, Universal said:
“Fast and Furious: Hollywood Drift will open this summer and we look forward to sharing its official opening date soon. An opening date was incorrectly posted on the Universal Studios Hollywood website and we apologize for the confusion. Stay tuned for more to come!”
The clarification comes after fans spotted what appeared to be an official opening date on Universal’s website, leading many to believe the highly anticipated roller coaster would debut later this month.

While that specific date is no longer considered official, the good news is that Universal has reaffirmed that Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift is still on track to open this summer.
The attraction is one of the most anticipated theme park additions of 2026 and will become Universal Studios Hollywood’s first-ever high-speed outdoor roller coaster. Inspired by the blockbuster Fast & Furious franchise, the coaster will feature innovative rotating ride vehicles designed to simulate the sensation of drifting through high-speed turns.
Construction has been ongoing for several years, with the massive coaster structure becoming a dominant feature of the park’s skyline and generating significant excitement among theme park fans.

For now, guests will have to wait a little longer for an official opening date announcement. Based on Universal’s statement, however, it sounds like that reveal may not be far away.
