A brand-new Disney television special is set to shine a spotlight on American innovation, history, and achievement, and Disney Parks will play a starring role.

Disney has announced “Disney Celebrates America: The Pursuit of Happiness,” a new two-hour ABC special premiering on June 29. The coast-to-coast event will use iconic Disney Parks locations, including Main Street, U.S.A. and Tomorrowland, as the backdrop for stories celebrating American innovation, achievements, traditions, and historic firsts.
According to Disney:
“In this coast-to-coast event, Disney Parks and attractions are the portal through which America’s greatest stories, triumphs, and traditions are celebrated.”
The special will explore the people, ideas, and milestones that have helped shape the United States, using beloved Disney destinations as a storytelling framework. Disney says the program will highlight American ingenuity, groundbreaking accomplishments, cherished traditions, and moments that changed history.

While additional details about featured stories and special guests have not yet been announced, the use of iconic lands like Main Street, U.S.A. and Tomorrowland suggests viewers can expect themes centered around both America’s past and its vision for the future.
The special arrives just ahead of the Independence Day holiday and continues Disney’s long tradition of celebrating American history and innovation through its parks, attractions, and entertainment offerings.
