A familiar Nickelodeon character is getting a fresh new look just in time for opening day.

Universal Kids Resort has revealed that Sandy Cheeks from SpongeBob SquarePants will debut an all-new outfit when the park officially opens on July 1, 2026.

According to reports from @SpeculationMatt on X, the new look will replace the hula-inspired costume that many longtime Nickelodeon fans may recognize from Sandy’s appearances at various Nickelodeon attractions over the years.

While Sandy’s classic hula outfit has become a staple of her character appearances at Nickelodeon destinations, Universal Kids Resort is introducing an updated costume specifically for the new family-focused park.

The refreshed look keeps Sandy’s recognizable personality front and center while giving the beloved squirrel a new style for guests visiting Universal Kids Resort beginning on opening day.

Sandy will be one of several characters guests can meet inside the SpongeBob SquarePants-themed area of Universal Kids Resort.

The land is inspired by the colorful world of Bikini Bottom and will feature attractions, interactive play experiences, character encounters, and opportunities for families to spend time with some of their favorite Nickelodeon characters.

Opening Day Is Almost Here

Universal Kids Resort officially opens on July 1, 2026, in Frisco, Texas. The new resort is designed specifically for families with younger children and will feature themed lands inspired by beloved franchises including SpongeBob SquarePants, Shrek, Puss in Boots, Trolls, Jurassic World, and Gabby’s Dollhouse.
