If you were planning a stop at Trader Sam’s during your next Disneyland trip, you may need to adjust your plans.

Disneyland Hotel is preparing for another temporary closure tied to the ongoing refurbishment of Trader Sam’s Enchanted Tiki Bar, and this next phase will impact both the outdoor patio and nearby Tangaroa Terrace.
The indoor portion of Trader Sam’s Enchanted Tiki Bar has been closed since March 2, 2026, for refurbishment work, while the outdoor patio and adjacent dining areas have continued operating for guests. Disney had previously indicated the refurbishment would wrap up in time for Trader Sam’s 15th anniversary celebration on May 25, but the project now appears to be extending slightly longer than originally expected.

According to updates shared online, the entire Trader Sam’s location — including the outdoor patio, outside bar area, and neighboring Tangaroa Terrace — will now close from May 14 through at least May 20, 2026. Reports indicate the closure could potentially extend beyond May 20, depending on construction progress.
A permit previously filed for the refurbishment project revealed plans for updates inside Trader Sam’s Enchanted Tiki Bar, including new gas tiki torches, updated lighting effects, and additional technical upgrades throughout the interior space. Disney has not yet confirmed what additional refurbishment work may be taking place in the outdoor patio areas or inside Tangaroa Terrace during this temporary closure.

Trader Sam’s Enchanted Tiki Bar has become one of the most popular lounges at Disneyland Resort since opening in 2011 at the Disneyland Hotel. Known for its immersive tiki atmosphere, interactive drink effects, themed décor, and Adventureland-inspired storytelling, the location has developed a major fan following among Disney Parks guests and tiki bar enthusiasts alike.
Despite the temporary closure, many fans are hopeful the refurbishment will help refresh the beloved location ahead of its milestone 15th anniversary celebration later this month. Disney has already hinted at special anniversary offerings, including limited-time menu items and exclusive merchandise.

Guests visiting Disneyland Resort during the closure dates may want to plan alternative dining options around the Disneyland Hotel while refurbishment work continues.
