California officials have announced plans for a new Disneyland-themed specialty license plate, and beyond looking magical, the initiative is designed to support an important cause across the state.

The proposal was announced through a collaboration between the California State Treasurer’s Office, Disneyland Resort, the California Children’s Hospital Association (CCHA), and the California Health Facilities Financing Authority (CHFFA). The goal is to create a specialized Disneyland license plate that would raise funds for children’s hospitals throughout California.

Disneyland License Plates Are in the Works

According to state officials, the Disneyland-themed plate is still in the early development phase and must complete several steps before becoming officially available.

The process includes securing approval from the California DMV before finalizing the plate design. The state must reach a minimum of 7,500 preorders required under California’s Special License Plate Program before it can move forward.

At this time, the official plate design has not yet been revealed.

However, interested fans can already sign up through an official interest list to receive updates about the project and future preorder opportunities.

The proceeds from the specialty plates would help fund services and programs at 13 children’s hospitals throughout California.

According to the announcement, funds would support:

  • Uncompensated healthcare services
  • Clinical education costs
  • Patient and family support programs
  • Other essential healthcare initiatives for children with serious medical conditions

Disneyland Resort President Jill Estorino also referenced Walt Disney’s longstanding connection to children’s hospitals, saying the initiative continues Disney’s legacy of bringing “joy, comfort, and inspiration” to kids and families.

“Bluey’s Best Day Ever!” celebrates the heart and humor of the critically acclaimed animated series “Bluey” in the Fantasyland Theatre in Disneyland park in Anaheim, Calif., beginning March 22, 2026. Bluey and Bingo appear on stage at set times throughout

If approved, the Disneyland-themed plates would cost $50 for a standard sequential plate and $103 for a personalized plate. Annual renewal fees would cost $40 for standard plates and $83 for personalized plates.

These fees would be in addition to normal vehicle registration costs.

Specialty Disney license plates already exist in states like Florida, where Walt Disney World-themed plates have raised millions for charitable organizations over the years.
