Disneyland may be limited on space, but Disney says that challenge is actually fueling some of its biggest creative ideas yet.

As Disneyland Resort continues preparing for its future expansion under the DisneylandForward initiative, Disney Experiences Chairman Thomas Mazloum says the project is already pushing teams to think differently in exciting ways.
Speaking about the future of Disneyland Resort, Mazloum shared that the space limitations surrounding Disneyland are actually helping inspire stronger creative solutions from Disney Imagineering and leadership teams.

“DisneylandForward just continues to bring the best out of us from a creative point of view,” Mazloum said during recent remarks discussing the project.
DisneylandForward is Disney’s long-term expansion plan for Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, designed to unlock future development opportunities across the resort while working within the existing footprint of the property. The initiative was officially approved by the Anaheim City Council in 2024 after years of planning and negotiations.

Unlike Walt Disney World, Disneyland Resort has significantly less room to expand, meaning future projects require more strategic planning and creative use of space. According to Mazloum, those constraints are helping teams develop more innovative ideas for the future of the resort.
Disney has already teased potential future additions tied to major franchises like Avatar, Coco, and Marvel, along with continued growth throughout Disney California Adventure and the Disneyland Resort overall.

While Disney has not yet announced every project connected to DisneylandForward, the company continues describing the initiative as a major part of Disneyland’s next era of expansion and storytelling.
