One of Disneyland’s most iconic attractions has officially set sail, but not in the way fans were hoping.
If you’re planning a trip to Disneyland anytime soon, there’s a major update you need to know. A beloved, must-do attraction has officially closed, and while it’s not gone forever, its absence is definitely going to be felt across the park.

As of May 4, 2026, Pirates of the Caribbean at Disneyland has officially closed for refurbishment. Pirates of the Caribbean
The attraction’s final day of operation was May 3, 2026, meaning guests visiting now will find the iconic New Orleans Square ride temporarily unavailable.
This closure is part of a planned refurbishment — something Disney does periodically to maintain and update its classic attractions.
Here’s where things get a little uncertain. Disney has not announced an official reopening date for Pirates of the Caribbean, leaving guests without a clear timeline for when the ride will return.
Some reports suggest the refurbishment could last at least several weeks or longer, but as of now, there’s no confirmed end date. If this ride was on your must-do list… You may need to adjust your plans.
While Disney hasn’t released a full breakdown of the updates, permits and reports indicate the refurbishment will include work such as:
- New rockwork elements
- Upgraded projectors and speakers
- Infrastructure updates like service ladders and panels
