Universal Orlando has officially announced that the Horror Make-Up Show at Universal Studios Florida will temporarily close starting May 12, with a reimagined version set to debut later in 2026.
This isn’t a permanent goodbye, but it is the end of the current version of a show that has been entertaining guests for decades.
Located inside the iconic Pantages Theater, the Horror Make-Up Show has been a staple of Universal Studios Florida since the park opened in 1990, giving guests a behind-the-scenes look at the art of movie makeup, practical effects, and classic horror filmmaking.
Known for its mix of live demonstrations, audience participation, and that signature Universal humor, it’s long been one of those “hidden gem” experiences — especially for guests looking to escape the heat while still getting a dose of entertainment.
Now, Universal is hitting pause to bring something new to life.
While details on the updated version are still under wraps, Universal has confirmed that the reimagined show will still honor the original’s comedic, slightly chaotic tone, while incorporating both classic and modern horror elements.
