The new Indiana Jones ride at Animal Kingdom just hit a major milestone, and it means things are getting real.
Construction has been moving fast on Disney’s newest land, but this latest update signals something bigger than just groundwork. The transformation is officially entering the phase where the story starts coming to life.
The upcoming Indiana Jones attraction at Disney’s Animal Kingdom has officially entered a key new stage of construction, following the filing of new permits tied to set installation work.
These permits, filed by Walt Disney Imagineering, call for contractors to begin installing physical show elements — essentially the themed environments, props, and scenic details that guests will actually see during the ride.
This marks a major shift from earlier construction phases like demolition and structural work, moving the project into the stage where the attraction’s immersive storytelling begins to take shape.
While it may sound technical, this phase is one of the most exciting parts of any Disney attraction build.
“Set elements” include everything from rockwork and temple facades to interior scenes, props, and environmental details — all of the visual pieces that turn a ride into a fully immersive experience.
The permits list well-known themed entertainment contractors like Adirondack Scenic and Scenario, both of which have worked on major Disney projects in the past.
The Indiana Jones ride is a centerpiece of the upcoming Tropical Americas land, which is replacing DinoLand U.S.A. at Animal Kingdom.
The attraction will reuse the existing ride system from the former DINOSAUR ride but feature an entirely new story centered around Indiana Jones exploring a mysterious Maya temple.
The entire land (including the Indiana Jones ride) is currently expected to open in 2027, though an exact date hasn’t been announced yet.
Once set installation begins, it means the attraction is moving beyond construction and into theming and storytelling, which is where Disney rides truly come to life.
