Universal Studios Japan is about to light up summer nights like never before.

If you thought summer at Universal Studios Japan couldn’t get more energetic, colorful, or downright chaotic in the best way…think again. A brand-new nighttime celebration has just been announced, and it’s bringing neon lights, dance parties, and festival vibes straight into the park after dark.
Universal Studios Japan has officially announced its new summer event: “Universal Summer Matsuri Night: Neon Glow Up.” The seasonal celebration will run from July 1 through August 26, 2026, transforming the park into a glowing nighttime festival inspired by traditional Japanese matsuri culture — but with a modern, high-energy twist.
Think neon lanterns, DJ beats, street performances, and immersive party zones spread across the park after sunset.

Highlights include:
- A main stage DJ show featuring Sesame Street characters, Sanrio favorites, and more
- Minions dance parties with throwback music remixes
- Neon-lit street performances with water effects and high-energy choreography
- Glow-themed food, drinks, and festival-style snacks
- A fireworks and lagoon finale on select nights
The centerpiece show, “NO LIMIT! Glow Up Oh! Matsuri,” will combine music, water effects, and live performers dressed in summer festival yukata, turning Gramercy Park into a full-on nighttime dance party.

What makes this year’s event stand out is how deeply it leans into the matsuri concept — traditional Japanese summer festivals known for food stalls, games, and community celebration.
Universal is layering that cultural inspiration with neon visuals, modern music, and character entertainment, creating a blend of old and new that feels uniquely USJ.
Even the food and merchandise are getting the glow-up treatment, with illuminated menu items, themed snacks, and collectible goods tied to the event’s neon aesthetic.

USJ is already known for going big on seasonal events, but this one feels like a step further into full sensory immersion. Between the music, lighting, water effects, and character appearances, Neon Glow Up is shaping up to be one of the park’s most visually intense summer offerings yet.
And with evening park hours extended during the event period, guests will have even more time to experience it all after sunset.

If you’re planning a summer trip to Osaka in 2026, this is one of those limited-time events that could completely change your park strategy. It’s loud, it’s bright, and it’s built for guests who want their Universal experience to continue long after the sun goes down.
Stay tuned for more updates as Universal continues rolling out details.
