As one of the most visited theme parks in the world, the Osaka-based destination is marking its 25th anniversary with a year-long celebration and a look toward the future of immersive entertainment. Here’s what’s been announced.
Universal Studios Japan is officially celebrating 25 years of operation, marking a major milestone for one of the most successful theme parks in the world.

The park first opened on March 31, 2001, becoming the first Universal theme park built outside of the United States.
To commemorate the anniversary, Universal has launched a year-long celebration beginning in March 2026, centered around the theme “Discover U!!!”.
The theme carries a dual meaning—encouraging guests to “Discover You” through immersive experiences, while also inviting them to rediscover the park itself after 25 years of innovation and storytelling.

Anniversary Celebration Details
The 25th anniversary celebration will include:
- A year-long lineup of entertainment, limited-time offerings, and merchandise
- A special version of the park’s popular NO LIMIT! Parade: Discover U!!!
- New live entertainment shows and interactive experiences throughout the park
The updated parade, running through early 2027, will feature fan-favorite characters, high-energy music, and interactive dance moments designed to fully immerse guests in the anniversary celebration.

A Look Back at 25 Years
Over the past two and a half decades, Universal Studios Japan has grown into one of the most visited theme parks globally, welcoming millions of guests each year.

- The expansion of Donkey Kong Country in 2024
- Continued additions of new attractions, seasonal events, and immersive lands

The park has also been known for blending global franchises with Japanese entertainment, helping it stand out as a unique destination within Universal’s portfolio.
Looking Ahead
As part of the anniversary announcement, Universal emphasized its continued focus on innovation and expansion, including plans to introduce new immersive experiences and partnerships in the coming years.

The company also highlighted its commitment to delivering “fan-first” experiences that push the boundaries of theme park storytelling.
