The Casita is starting to rise, and this construction update changes everything.

‘Encanto’ ride construction

If you’ve been waiting for a sign that Disney’s Encanto attraction is finally becoming real, this is it. A brand-new aerial look at construction just dropped, and let’s just say, this project is no longer in its “early stages” era.

We’re talking visible structures, major layout progress, and the clearest picture yet of how this all-new land is coming together. But the biggest takeaway? This ride is moving fast.

New aerial images show significant progress on the upcoming Encanto-themed attraction at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, part of the park’s massive Tropical Americas expansion.

From above, you can now clearly see the growing footprint of the attraction — including the main show building and surrounding areas that will eventually house queue spaces and guest pathways. Earlier updates confirmed that the steel framework and roofing for the main structure were already completed, with work now shifting toward the queue and exterior elements.

And honestly? It’s starting to look like a real ride, not just a construction site.

The new attraction will bring guests inside the Madrigal family’s magical Casita, placing them right in the middle of the story following Antonio’s gift ceremony.

Even better? This is a completely new build from the ground up, meaning Imagineers aren’t working within existing ride constraints; they’re creating something entirely original for this experience!

Translation: expectations are high.

The Encanto ride is just one piece of the puzzle.

It’s all part of the new Tropical Americas land — a roughly 11-acre expansion replacing DinoLand U.S.A., which closed earlier this year.

When it opens (currently expected in 2027), the land will also include an all-new Indiana Jones attraction, a themed carousel, and a vibrant village area called Pueblo Esperanza.

Disney

Construction updates like this tell us more than just “it’s happening.” They show how far along Disney really is.

With major structural work already complete and visible progress on guest-facing areas like queues, this project is clearly moving into its next phase — the one where theming, storytelling, and those signature Disney details start coming to life.

And if you’ve been waiting for a reason to plan a 2027 trip…this might be it!

This is one of the biggest projects happening at Walt Disney World right now — and we’re just getting started! Keep checking back for more construction updates, opening timelines, and everything you need to know before stepping into the Casita yourself.
