A small but important closure could impact your Disney resort stay this week.

Righteous Reef

If you’re staying at one of Disney World’s most family-friendly resorts, you’ll want to take note of this quick update. While it’s not a ride closure or major refurbishment, it’s the kind of change that can definitely affect your downtime plans — especially if you’re traveling with little ones!

The playground at Disney’s Art of Animation Resort is currently closed for routine maintenance and is expected to remain unavailable through April 28, 2026.

Righteous Ree (located in the Finding Nemo-themed courtyard) is a popular spot for kids to climb, explore, and burn off extra energy between park days.

While Disney hasn’t shared specifics about the work being done, closures like this are typically part of standard upkeep to ensure safety and maintain the immersive theming guests expect.

If your stay overlaps with this closure, it’s not a major disruption — but it is something to plan around.

The good news? Art of Animation still offers plenty of other recreation options, including multiple themed pools (including the Big Blue Pool), open green spaces and courtyards, and the Pixel Play Arcade.

So while the playground is temporarily off-limits, there are still plenty of ways for kids to stay entertained. Playgrounds at Disney resorts are often underrated lifesavers for parents.

Backside

They’re the perfect spot for a midday break or a post-park energy reset. So if this was part of your plan, you may want to build in alternative downtime activities during your stay.

Closures like this may be short-term, but they can still impact your plans in a big way. Keep checking back for the latest Disney updates, refurbishments, and planning tips!
