A quiet closure just happened at Universal, and you probably walked right past it!

Rosie’s Irish Shop

It’s not always the big rides or headline-grabbing attractions that disappear…sometimes, it’s the small, tucked-away spots that longtime fans remember most. And now, another one of those locations is gone.

A retail location many guests may recognize (but not always notice) has officially closed inside Universal Studios Florida, and it could signal even more changes coming to the park.

As of April 12, Rosie’s Irish Shop has officially closed in the New York section of the park.

Rosie’s merch

The shop, known for its Irish-themed merchandise, offered a mix of souvenirs tied to Ireland, including items inspired by nearby Finnegan’s Bar & Grill, Guinness-branded goods, and even unique memorabilia like John F. Kennedy apparel. While it may not have been a headline destination, it added a layer of charm and storytelling to the New York streetscape.

If you visited recently, you may have seen the signs coming.

More merchandise

In the weeks leading up to the closure, the store held storewide clearance sales (with items discounted up to 50% off), a common indicator that a location may be preparing to shutter. Now, black curtains reportedly cover the windows, marking the space as officially closed.

At this time, Universal Orlando Resort has not announced what will replace the shop, leaving fans to speculate about what could be next for this corner of the park.

Sale signs

This closure isn’t happening in a vacuum. Universal has been making widespread updates across the resort in 2026, including refurbishments, restaurant changes, and retail overhauls. With nearby locations like Finnegan’s currently closed for refurbishment, it’s possible this entire area could see a refreshed look or new offerings in the near future.

For longtime visitors, closures like this are always a bit bittersweet. These smaller shops often carry unique theming and hidden details that help bring the park’s immersive environments to life — even if you only popped in for a quick browse.

But if there’s one thing Universal has proven time and time again, it’s that change usually means something new is on the horizon. Whether that’s a reimagined retail space, a new concept, or part of a larger transformation of the New York area, we’ll be watching closely.

Stay tuned for more Universal Orlando updates, closures, and construction news — and keep checking back as we track what’s next for this evolving area of the park.
