A new permit could reveal what’s coming NEXT to Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

Something new is quietly happening behind construction walls at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and this latest permit might be the clearest sign yet that a major transformation is getting closer to its big debut.

A newly filed permit points to signage work at the Studio Theater, part of the ongoing overhaul of Animation Courtyard, and while that might sound small, it could actually signal a BIG step forward in Disney’s plans.

Here’s what’s going on.

According to recent reports, The Walt Disney Company has filed a permit specifically for new signage installation at the Studio Theater inside the reimagined Animation Courtyard area. While the permit itself doesn’t reveal exact details, signage is typically one of the final stages of a project — a strong indication that this space could be moving out of heavy construction and into its final, guest-facing phase.

If you’ve been following along, you know this area is in the middle of a massive reimagining. Animation Courtyard officially closed in September 2025 to make way for a brand-new land inspired by the real-life Walt Disney Studios lot in Burbank. Since then, visible progress has included updated facades, structural work, and refreshed landscaping — all pointing toward a completely different experience than what stood here before.

The reimagined space, expected to open in summer 2026, is set to be anchored by the return of The Magic of Disney Animation, but in a much more interactive form. Guests can expect a blend of exhibits, character experiences, and hands-on animation opportunities, signaling a shift back toward the park’s original storytelling roots while still embracing modern technology and engagement.

That’s where this permit becomes especially interesting. The Studio Theater sits right within this evolving footprint, and the addition of new signage could reflect final branding decisions, the identity of a new or updated show, or simply the last layer of immersive theming being installed before guests are welcomed back. It’s a subtle update, but one that often comes just before things are ready to be revealed.

The park continues to see ongoing updates and expansions, all aimed at refining its identity and enhancing the guest experience across multiple lands.

For longtime fans, this space carries a lot of history — from its original animation tour roots to its more recent uses. But now, it’s clear Disney is preparing to turn the page once again.
