Recent aerial updates show that the new carousel structure is now rising above ground, marking a major milestone in the project. This is one of the first elements in the land to reach vertical construction, giving us a clearer idea of scale and layout.

And it’s all starting to feel real.

What We Know About the Tropical Americas

This new land will replace the former Dinoland U.S.A. area and is expected to bring entirely new experiences inspired by Latin American regions and stories.

Among the highlights is a carousel attraction themed to animals of the Americas — something that’s shaping up to be both visually unique and family-friendly.

But that’s just the beginning.

The expansion is also expected to include a major attraction based on Encanto, along with additional experiences themed to Indiana Jones, replacing the current DINOSAUR ride.

Why “Going Vertical” Matters

In construction terms, this is a BIG deal.

Vertical progress means foundational work is largely complete, and we’re now entering the phase where structures—and eventually themed elements—start to take shape.

And if Disney follows its typical timeline, this is when we’ll start seeing more visible progress over the coming months — from steel frameworks to themed facades.

What This Means For Your Next Visit

While there’s still a long road ahead before Tropical Americas officially opens, updates like this signal that Disney is making serious progress on its next-generation expansion.

We don’t have an exact opening date just yet, but if construction continues at this pace, expect this project to remain one of the most closely watched developments at Walt Disney World.
