Bluey is heading to the big screen—and this might be the biggest moment yet for the beloved series.

Disney

Disney and BBC Studios have officially announced the first-ever Bluey feature film, set to bring the Heeler family into theaters worldwide. Here’s everything that’s been confirmed so far—and what it could mean for fans.

The hit animated series Bluey is officially getting its first-ever theatrical film, with a global release set for August 6, 2027.

Bluey

The movie is being developed as a collaboration between The Walt Disney Company, BBC Studios, and Ludo Studio, the original creators behind the series.

What’s Been Confirmed

The film will be the same Bluey we’ve all come to know and love (Hooray!) A CG-animated feature-length movie, written and directed by Bluey creator Joe Brumm, produced by Amber Naismith, and co-directed by Richard Jeffery.

The original voice cast is also returning for the full-length film, including Melanie Zanetti (Chilli) and David McCormack (Bandit).

Disney

The film’s music will once again be handled by series composer Joff Bush, maintaining the same emotional tone fans have come to expect. Following its theatrical release, the movie will stream on Disney+ globally, with additional availability in Australia via ABC platforms.

What Will the Movie Be About?

While Disney hasn’t revealed a full plot yet, the film is expected to continue the adventures of Bluey and her family, staying true to the heart of the series.

Creator Joe Brumm has hinted that the movie will be a larger-scale, emotional experience designed for families to enjoy together, building on storytelling elements seen in longer-form episodes like “The Sign.”

Why This Is a Big Deal

Bluey has become a global phenomenon since its debut, consistently ranking among the most-watched shows on Disney+.

Disney

Bringing the series to theaters marks a major step forward—transforming a short-form children’s show into a full cinematic experience.

What We Could See

While nothing has been confirmed story-wise, there are a few likely directions based on what we know:

  • A longer, more emotional storyline
  • Bigger world-building beyond Bluey’s immediate neighborhood
  • A focus on family milestones or major life changes
  • Potential new characters introduced alongside familiar favorites

There’s also strong potential for the film to lean into what makes Bluey resonate with adults just as much as kids—something Disney will likely amplify on the big screen.
