If you’re planning a visit to Epic Universe this May, there’s a small (but important) ride closure to keep in mind.

Mine-Cart Madness

Universal has confirmed that one of the park’s most popular attractions, Mine-Cart Madness, will be temporarily unavailable for a single day. While the closure is brief, it could impact your plans if this ride is high on your must-do list.

Universal Orlando Resort has announced a one-day closure for one of its most in-demand attractions at Epic Universe.

Inside the queue

The Donkey Kong-themed Mine-Cart Madness ride will be closed on May 3 2026, with operations expected to resume shortly after. While Universal has not shared a specific reason for the downtime, short closures like this are typically associated with routine maintenance or operational adjustments.

Located inside Super Nintendo World at Universal Epic Universe, Mine-Cart Madness has quickly become one of the park’s standout attractions since Epic Universe officially opened in 2025.

Queue line crowds

The family coaster is based on the Donkey Kong franchise and features a unique ride system designed to simulate jumping over broken track sections—an effect inspired directly by the video games.

Since opening, the attraction has consistently ranked among the most popular rides in the park, often drawing long wait times and high guest demand.

Because of that popularity, even a short closure could have a noticeable impact on crowd flow within Super Nintendo World during that day.

For guests visiting Epic Universe around the scheduled closure, the best approach is to plan ahead. If Mine-Cart Madness is a priority, consider adjusting your visit to another day or focusing on other nearby attractions—such as Mario Kart: Bowser’s Challenge or Yoshi’s Adventure—while the ride is unavailable.

It’s also worth noting that brief closures like this are not uncommon, especially for newer attractions utilizing innovative ride systems. Regular maintenance helps ensure long-term reliability and consistent guest experiences, particularly for rides that rely on more advanced technology.

At this time, Universal has not indicated any extended downtime, and the closure is expected to be limited to just the single day.
