One of Disney World’s most beloved resorts is getting a major refresh, but it’s going to come with some visible changes for guests.

Disney’s Wilderness Lodge is currently in the middle of an extensive exterior refurbishment, and new updates confirm that the work will continue through late 2026. While the resort remains open, guests planning a stay should expect to see construction throughout different areas of the property.
The project, which began back in 2024, has expanded to include large portions of the resort’s exterior, including both the main lodge and the surrounding Copper Creek Villas & Cabins.
Work includes ongoing painting, structural maintenance, and general exterior updates designed to preserve the long-term look and feel of one of Walt Disney World’s most iconic resorts.
As the refurbishment continues, Disney has noted that construction will be visible from multiple areas of the resort, with potential impacts to views and scenery depending on where you’re staying.
Guests may also notice typical construction elements like scaffolding, blocked sightlines, and temporary pathway adjustments in certain areas.

That said, the resort is still fully operational.
Most amenities—including dining, pools, and transportation—are expected to remain available throughout the duration of the project. However, Disney has confirmed that guests should anticipate hearing or seeing construction activity during daytime hours as work progresses.
There have already been smaller closures tied to the refurbishment, including temporary work on the boat dock earlier in 2026, which briefly impacted water transportation access.
So while nothing major is being removed from the guest experience, there are definitely some trade-offs to be aware of.
This type of long-term refurbishment is part of Disney’s broader strategy to maintain and update its resort portfolio without fully shutting down properties. Wilderness Lodge, known for its immersive Pacific Northwest theming and detailed architecture, relies heavily on its exterior atmosphere—so keeping that look intact over time requires ongoing work at this scale.
And timing-wise, it lines up with what we’re seeing across Walt Disney World right now.
Multiple resorts are undergoing similar updates as Disney continues investing in its hotel experiences ahead of future demand and expansion across the parks.
For guests, the takeaway is simple: Wilderness Lodge is still open, still beautiful—but not completely untouched.
If you’re planning a stay in the near future, it’s worth factoring in the possibility of construction views or daytime noise. For others, waiting until the project wraps up in late 2026 may offer a more polished, fully restored experience.
Either way, this refurbishment is clearly about preserving what makes Wilderness Lodge special—while quietly setting it up for the years ahead.
